Per Ryan Smith of ABC Sports.

quote:

#DeflateGate latest: NFLPA sources tells us if Tom Brady’s appeal results in suspension for ANY games, they’ll challenge in federal court

With the expected announcement of punishment this week, you will see posturing on both sides, and given the NFLs leaky office this could get interesting.

Ted Wells has to be shitting bricks right now. It can't be good for business to get trashed in open court.

Good. In no world should the punishment for allegedly messing with some footballs be worse than beating on women.

What if he was throwing the deflated footballs at women?

If they reduce the suspension, they are fully admitting that it was a flawed (million of dollar costing) investigation but keep a couple games to keep the rest of the league happy. Not going to go well in court

Right now the league is just stalling so that whenever the reduction does come down that Brady will chose to take the short suspension over risking court lingering on into later into the season...that's what they hope he does atleast.

Yea, right. Challenging in federal court on what grounds?

They'll reduce it to 1/2 games and Brady will accept it.

Violation of the CBA which is a labor contract for a company that is in multiple states.

Where have you been the past couple years? There's been a couple of these things that went to federal court

Nah, Brady is taking this as far as it can go.

If he accepts a deal, he's admitting wrongdoing. Better for him to go down swinging.

I don't get all the numbnuts on there who are rooting for Roger Goodell over Tom Brady.

WTF is wrong with you people? Why on earth would you want Goodell's illegal, incompetent and moronic arse to "win" this argument?

A good bit of saints fans on this board want an equal punishment to bounty gate, which makes no real sense if you disagree with that punishment

Apparently two wrongs make a right

I'll leave that to the lawyers. But it boils down to Goodell haven't no grounds to suspend the player under the CBA and not having the authority to delegate the ruling to Troy Vincent

Vilma Court Case

I am ignorant when it comes to law, but here is Vilma's case explained, and I've gone under the assumption it would be tried the same way.

If Tom Brady was cheating I want an adequate punishment. I don't know if that is Goodell winning or not

Well, if that's the case, tampering with the ball is a 25k fine and no suspension.

I could be 100% wrong on this, but would that only be for a regular season game. And that would mean he was lying about it which often results in bigger penalties
