Every year the bottom 8 teams go Bowling against top 8 FCS schools. The FCS winners join the conferences of the team beaten FBS team and the FBS team is demoted to FCS (laughing emoji)

I'd rather watch this than consolation bowls. At least it would have meaning!

Hank: “Bobby, I never thought I’d need to tell you this, but I would be a bad parent if I didn’t. Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking.”

Bottom 8 teams would get housed.

The top 8 FCS teams compete with good FBS teams... They'll smoke Kansas and Purdue

Yes they would at least years 1 & 2. After 16 FCS schools move up it would be battles.

So if Purdue lost to Sam Houston for example, then Sam Houston joins the Big10? So a FCS team then joins a P5 conference and somebody like Cincinnati is not?

UCF lost to 4-7 Furman. They would get destroyed by a good fcs team

I dunno i didn't think too far past "toilet bowl" was funny and I wanted to make a thread with that in title.

For sake of argument let's say yes Jacksonville St just takes over Purdues schedule and conference

The only way this could possibly work would be to keep it regional and match up conferences. Like SEC vs. southland. Even then, there are tons of issues. I think I saw an article a few years ago with a plan for this type of thing. I'll see if I can find it.

Eta: Here it is. LINK

Wouldn't it make more sense to have FCS teams play bad G5 teams and good G5 teams play bad P5 teams?

So Houston or Memphis might play Kansas and try to take their Big XII spot, while Jacksonville State would play UCF and try to take their place in the AAC.

Yeah, that's what the link I posted does. Power 5 - Group of 5 - FCS - etc

Would be interesting to say the least.

If a 4 year win loss ranking was used it could be a way to force lower tier teams to come to play or go home. Compile W's and L's over a four year span with conference titles becoming exemptions until the next four year cycle.

Not doing a full four yr cycle, but these games could conceivably replace the bottom 10 or 12 bowl games.

Winner gets 4 years in a G5 conference.
UCF vs. Jacks St
SMU vs. ND ST
North Tex vs. Mcneese
East. Mich vs. Ill St
Wyoming vs. Portland St.
ULM vs. Sam Houston

Winner gets 4 years in a P5 Conference
BC vs WKU/Southern Miss
Kansas vs. Ark St
USCe vs. Temple/Houston
Purdue vs. Bowling Green/North Ill
Oregon St. vs. Air Force/San Diego St.
