There were alot of guys out there that will get a chance at the next level. I thought we could maybe break down their performances here.

Kaminsky: Showed up to play today and really showed his diverse offensive game. He had some trouble with Amil late, but he droved that he can score in a variety of ways against Length, Bulk, and Athleticism this tourney. I am really impressed by his ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the basket as a 7 footer. Due to his slight frame, there were times tonight where he couldnt gain ground in his post positions, but he had great counters and was able to do a variety on skill based manuevers to get out of being stonewalled. He will definitely need to improve his strength there, even tho his post defense was solid tonight, given his supposed limitations.

Nigel Hayes: Heres a guy that I think could have a solid NBA career as a 3/4 tweener in the Draymond Green, Josh Smith, Boris Diaw, Thad Young realm. He shot the 3 ball well tonight, and was able to exploit some mismatches in the paint. His post moves werent the best, but I think he will improve on that as he will be more featured next season. His ability to stretch the floor and be a quality 4/rebounder/rim protector will help him alot at the next level.

Sam Dekker: Cant say I was pleased with this performance. He spent a majority of the game bitching to the refs about grayson and the other guards off the ball defense on him. I not sure if he was slave to their offense system, but I do think that first airball on the first shot of the game ruined his night. He didnt hit a jump shot the entire night and was out of it from the perimeter. Smaller 6'4 guards were disrupting him on the perimeter and he never once exploited a perimeter mismatch. Thats alarming, because if hes a top 15 pick, he should have been able to blow by the duke swings on perimeter plays. I didnt like his lack of assertiveness. Cant emphasize more how much the duke guards got him in a funk. Thats not good for a 3/4 tweener with small arms. He did have some great energy plays were his athleticism showed on the offensive glass. Hes a very streaky shooter with a good form. Like Lester said earlier, he needs to shoot 1000 3s a day until the draft. The few moments duke fell asleep is when he feasted on them off the ball. That instinct will pay him dividends. He had a few "best athlete on the floor" plays and a couple on Justice. It will be interesting to see his combine numbers but I thnk he has the talent, not sure if he will be JEff Green or Jordan Hamiliton though.

Tyus Jones: Great heady PG, with a great feel for the poisition and the game. Never got flustered tonight, and really navigated the pnr game beautifully tonight. He has a good first step and has tremendous vision as passer. His shot form is good, but it will be interesting to see if he can become a consistent lock down shooter at the next level. I question his top flight athleticism though, as he is only 6'0 190. At that size, in the NBA, you better be a lights out shooter (CP3, Lowry) or blazing fast with top 1% athleticism (Collison). He screams trey burke to me, and burke has had a huge problem defending and scoring on the NBA 1s. I think he can make a solid 10 year pro, but his combine numbers will give us a peek into his potential.

Jahlil Okafor: I love his offensive game and his feel for the offensive end. MOst skilled big in years. He missed a few bunnies today, but at times he was able to over power Kaminsky and put him to work. I loved his aggression as he didnt settle for bank shots and jumpers. You lvoe to see that from you bigs. I think we already know the story on his skill set, but I was really bothered by his inability to move his feet on defense. Kaminsky really made him work, but he was a tad bit slow on some of his defensive slides. For as great of foot work he has on the offensive end, he has lead feet on the defensive end. Im not sure if he would be better served losing 15-20 pounds. He looks about 280, and I think he would gain some athleticism at 265.

Justice: Prototype NBA wing. He had a few plays out there that just screamed "number 1 overall pick" and "best player in the building." He seems to have develop james hardens slashing style were he baits defenders into hacking and fouling him. He had some mental lapses on boxes out today, but played stellar positional defense as the 5 man in their zone when duke didnt have their traditional wings out there. He projects Wesley Matthew/Harden type

Hayes confuses me. Seems to have really good size and athleticism at 6' 8'' but for some reason just never impressed me. Doesn't look like he has much feel for the game or something.

I know I'm going to get the stereotype label, but Grayson Allen is going to be a great NBA player. Following recruiting, I kept hearing how he was going to fill the J.J. Redick role, so I was not expecting those drives. Not only that but they were some of the strongest drives I saw on the night. It also helps when he's a great free-throw shooter to punish defenses when they foul him on those drives. One thing he has that Redick didn't (besides those strong takes to the basket) is his tenacity on defense as well. I was beyond impressed with him.

If Winslow isn't a top 5 pick, something is wrong. The guy can do everything and is a solid defender. Between him and Allen, they took Dekker out of that second half. Winslow is a strong driver as well and can finish in a variety of ways. If he continues to improve that outside shot, he can be a combination of Matthews and Harden

After last night, I would prefer Towns over Okafor. Towns just has more variety to his game while Okafor just tries to bump and bully smaller defenders. Surprisingly, Wisconsin didn't double him much and didn't really have to. He's going to need to learn some moves and start practicing free throws because he could be a liability in crunch time.

I thought his moves were fine, he just wasn't finishing. His defense on the other hand was pretty abysmal.

Yea Dekker was really disappointing. He wanted nothing to do with the ball on the wing. He looked scared to me.

Nigel Hayes= Ron Artest

Tyus Jones= Mike Bibby.

I like hayes, that high release on his J is tough to guard.

Allen is going to be good as he continues to develop especially with that athleticism

Dekker had a rough night and is very streaky but the guy who showed up against UNC, Arizona and UK could be a very nice NBA player.

Winslow was the best NBA player on the floor last night.

Hayes will have the best NBA career for Wisconsin.

Winslow has the potential to be an elite elite scorer in the NBA.

I would take him #1 in a heartbeat after last night.

Okafor is good, but I think he's one level below a true franchise changing player. Similar to Al Jefferson or slightly more athletic Hibbert with worse defense.

His footwork is insane, but his overall offensive game isn't that impressive. Not convinced he's the next Duncan by any means.

He's a very bad defender.

I would still take him over Towns though.

Winslow should be the #1 overall pick.

Kaminsky:

Really tough to compare him to anyone in the NBA, because his frame is so much smaller than a guy like Dirk. He isn't a lights out shooter like Ryan Anderson (similar size), but is quicker and has more moves. He has shown that he can get shots off against more athletic big men because he is so crafty. His biggest positive tonight was his post defense as you mentioned. He bodied up the potential number 1 pick with mostly no help and held him to 10 points. He needs to hit the weight room for sure if he is going to handle NBA 4's and sometimes 5's on a regular basis.

quote:

Nigel Hayes:

Thad Young comparison seems fair, although I think Young is more athletic. I do think he will have a solid NBA career especially since he has developed an outside shot. Seems like a really good 7th or 8th man on a roster. Similar game and role to a guy like Dante Cunningham.

quote:

Sam Dekker:

Agree with pretty much everything you said. It is hard not to compare him to Keith Van Horn, but Van Horn appeared to have a more complete skill set. Seems like some bigger small forwards in the NBA will give him trouble on defense due to his small frame. To me he appears to have the most bust potential. I know he is coming off a bad performance, so I may be swayed but I just don't see his game panning out at the next level.

quote:

Tyus Jones:

Even though he had some great games including the championship, it would be tough to pull the trigger on him as a GM too early in the draft due to his size and limited film. Not sure another year in college would help his draft stock too much, but it would definitely help his game. He seems like a good Jason Terry type of offense and guard play off the bench to me.

quote:

Jahlil Okafor:

Your comment about losing a little weight may help him. Kaminsky was a really tough matchup for him. He had to play way further away from the basket than he is accustomed to. When people say most skilled big man in years, how many years are we talking? Demarcus Cousins appeared to be more skilled to him than me in college. I know he was a head case, but had a better post game and was a better defender. If his ceiling is a little below Cousins, that is still really good.

quote:

Justice:

I get Caron Butler vibes from him. If he is your 3rd or 4th best starter once he figures out the NBA, then you have a deep playoff contender. He attacks the goal with authority. He is very good at the top of the key shot. Will be interesting to see how easily his range extends to the pro 3.
