Didn't realize Tebow was thinking about going into seminary? Is he speaking places because of his character or because he just happens to be a guy with Christian character that plays in the NFL? I think they could get plenty of good character guys to be an example that are in a far more humble situation. Tebow is just an attention whore from his football playing IMO.

Team Tebow is a business. The Church probably paid his team 100,000 grand to come speak and so he went speak.

I saw this thread a few hours ago and I tried to give a frick. I went out for several drinks and am currently on the train home. Again, I attempted to muster up one, just one frick, about this. However, it was to no avail.

You're wasting your energy on ignorant people...

Don't give them that power over you.

I am talking about the Catholic belief that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. I know that since Vatican II, Protestants are considered "separated brethren" now, but it is still vitally important to go through the Roman Catholic Church.

I don't get why that is a big deal, though. I expect people who believe in something to think that they are right and that I am wrong if I disagree. Why is that surprising to anyone?

Only the Secularist who pretends that everyone believes the same thing and feigns shock when someone actually has an exclusivist belief is "surprised" enough to then condemn the exclusivist because they do not fit their standard. Ironic.

The majority of Christians do not hate those who disagree with them. There is a counterbalancing doctrine called the Imago Dei, which means that all people are made in the image of God and they should all be respected and treated with dignity because of that. Also, in Matthew 5, Jesus commanded that we were to love and pray for our enemies. So, those Christians who act hatefully toward those who reject Christ are themselves violating God's commands.

Christianity is exclusivist, but it is not hateful towards those who reject it. Christians are supposed to act in love and respect toward all people.

Better topic: Roman Catholics' Francis of Assisi vs. Protestants' Tim Tebow in battle of the righteous Christians. Who wins?

It is a shame that these people think they are better than other people. For example the preacher that insulted other religions. So un American. Can't we all get along and realize that nobody holds the absolute truth and we are all brothers and sisters. Tebow should be ashamed for even speaking with these prejudiced people.

When will people stop trying to convert others and let people live their own lives?

and Tebow can back up Romo next year and stay in Dallas

I know this isn't the Poli Board, but your source is RightWingWatch.org.

They're a far leftist group that's going to over-blow anything/anyone who displays a bit of conservative thought, as Tebow has at least from a religious/pro-life perspective.

They also hate Mitt Romney, though they used him as a "victim" for the purposes of their article here to smear Tebow.

Can we go back to complaining that he can't throw? I wish the Jets used it a lot this year and yes he got screwed over by them.

Tebow may not know the preacher's background, he probably just goes wherever his booking agent sets up a speaking engagement. And if he did, it may not matter, he might have a policy of speaking to anybody, anywhere, who will listen. It's a free country, he can speak anywhere he wants. I'd hope he'd take the opportunity to say something about tolerance or what have you, although that may be expecting too much.

This preacher is a hacktastic tool, though, and there's plenty of confirmation from other sources besides Right Wing Watch. He has a history of making inflammatory statements and such.

From his facebook this morning

"While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance. I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!"

Personally, I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand this.

Probably because he just canceled his engagement due to the church's anti-Catholic stance?
