made the cut in the US Open and the British Open, with a top 25 in the British. I'd say those are more important that a cut at a regular tournament. He also made cuts as an amateur, made the cut in the Masters and British in 1995, as well as the Motorola Western open. He actually played in his first PGA tournament at the age of 16

I'm not saying Strange wasn't being a dick. He was. I've stated that.
But y'all are acting like he should have known this kid was gonna be "Tiger Woods" as we know him now. Jesus he was a kid who had won US Amateurs and that was it. It's not like there aren't people that do that and then struggle when they first hit the tour. That's what the norm is.
It only looks ridiculous because now we know Tiger was a one in 10 million guy. At the time it would have been ridiculous for strange to treat him as a one in ten million.
But that's separate from him being a dick.

And yeah it's arrogant. It's just that tiger was the one guy that the arrogance was justified. But strange couldn't have know that yet and it would have seemed silly if he actually voiced it. I mean damn what did you expect? "Hey kid you're arrogant but I see in your future 14 major wins so, good on ya mate?"

well to be fair, only a select few golfers have ever won 3 US Amateurs, one of them being Bobby Jones. And Tiger winning multiple US Amateurs hadn't been done since Jack Nicklaus, unless you want to include Gary Cowan (won hist first at age 28 and his second at age 33) and Jay Seigal (won B2B Amateurs at age 40). Tiger winning three straight is basically unprecedented in the modern age of golf. He wasn't just any US Amateur champion. He also won the Junior Amateur at age 15, winning three staright Junior Amateurs as well. To say he was a phenom at age 20 is an understatement. I personally think Strange, along with others on tour, felt threatened by Tiger, as they should have been.

generally, when you're trying to get someone to open up in an interview, you don't act like a pompous dick and then laugh at their answers with a smug grin. i honestly think tiger handling it like he did was very mature for a 20 year old.

Tiger is not only one of the greatest golfers of all time, but he's also one of the biggest pricks. He gets exactly zero sympathy from me.
