Full disclosure, I know basically NOTHING about mlb. Practically nothing at all. So beore the season started a coworker was talking all about how the mariners would make the WS, and even though I knew nothing about seattle, I figure picking one team to make the WS in the preseason is probably not that good of odds, so we made a bet (he took seattle, I took the rest of the league). Well, after seeing that that probably won't happen, he wants to go double or nothing with KC making the world series. A quick look at the standings shows that they are pretty good and leading their division. So what should I do in this case, take the guaranteed (essentially) money from the seattle bet or double up on KC not making it?

Your coworker is a dumb dumb. But the Royals were just in the series last year and look really good again. They could easily make it.

What is the wager? Are you giving him odds? He seems too stupid to have nice things. I would take the bet.

well it's for money, but not a lot of money so I won't say in fear of being labeled a poor.

no

It's simply either SEA does not make the WS and I get amount A, or KC doesn't make the WS and I get double that.

That coworker is an idiot.

Not only did KC make the WS last year, they took the Giants to game 7, and were a 3rd base coach's lapse in judgment away from winning the whole damn thing. And yes, they're awesome again, this year. But a lot can happen in baseball. It's a loooong season, and the smallest thing can disrupt even a dominant team's run in the playoffs. So Seattle is the safe play because they AREN'T making the WS.

Take the bet, it'll give you something to do (root against the royals).

Were going back to the World Series. Take the money and stick with Seatle.

Give him triple or nothing and give him the Phillies, based on the information in you post he might be dumb enough to take it.

Odds say no, just because they made it last year and back to back appearances is rare.

the AL is wideopen.

the AL west isnt a threat at this point.

Yankee's look good.

Minny is more flukey than the Astros

I think Detroit and Toroto are teams to keep an eye on.
