Things seem to be getting worse for Clay Helton

Rumors that Chuma Edoga and EJ Price are looking to get out. It would suck to lose Price, he's a future 1st round draft pick IMO. What a dumpster fire.

I hear offensive tackle E.J. Price has left the team. No official word from USC on his whereabouts. One source tells me Clay Helton told the team that if anyone wants to leave he will sign the papers. The circus has officially come to town.

Pic that sums up Heltons coaching abilities...

This is a shame. If USC ever takes football serious, it is by far the best job in the country. I would get the program in line before getting rid of Helton. Make sure it is stable, get the money flowing in, and go get an NFL OC.

Were there so few candidates available that they HAD to promote Clay Helton or something? He didn't even do that good in the interim spot.

Their AD department is a mess right now. They have bigger issues than Helton.

i saw this on the usc247 site
quote:

Random thoughts/observations relayed from people very close to the team:

Tee is out of his league as an OC. Though Clay wasn't a great OC, Tee is drastic step down.
Team seems to have lost faith in Helton as weekly "Family Dinners" are largely unattended.
Helton has coddled the team. Post game speeches are "good effort" and "almost" rather than fire and brimstone.
Dietitians are either absent or ignored as post game meal was Popeyes in Palo Alto. This is not the first time that has happened. Player diets during the week are not regulated as would be expected, either.

I think Helton was afraid of losing him so he offered him the promotion. He's the only great recruiter on this staff. He's a horrible coach thou, he was awful as a WR coach so I'm not sure what gave Helton the idea he'd be a success as an OC.

if popeyes can't bring the team together nothing can.

helton is 1 and done.

could be yet another epic year on the coaching changes board. potentially usc, auburn, lsu and maybe even texas all could open.

From the outside looking in, that hire made no sense from the get go. USC should be able to do much better than an interim asst. coach from a staff that proved to only be mildly successful.

Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Auburn are the big-time programs who are the most likely to have job openings at the end of the season. But you have to think that USC and Oklahoma are quietly testing the waters as well, right?

Helton is under immense pressure, which is why he just demoted Max Browne. Sam Darnold will start against Utah on Friday.

These is no way he is around next year. The worst hire for anyone in recent memory. As much as I hate butch Jones, he would have been a home run hire compared to this guy.
