There would be much more controversy if we still had the BCS

Right now an undefeated, defending champ FSU would be on the brink of being left out of the NC (which would be Bama vs Oregon). Yeah a 4 team playoff will cause some debate. But at least every team with a legitimate claim as best in the nation will be in included. Usually there are 2-3 such teams each year. It sucks for which one of OSU/TCU/Baylor get left out but it's not like any of those 3 could make a legitimate claim to be the best team in the country at this point.
Changing the size of the playoff won't eliminate controversy, it'll just change the controversy from who should be ranked #4 to who should be ranked #8. IMO the "job" of the playoff is to make sure every team with a legitimate claim to be the best gets a shot at proving it on the field. That didn't happen a couple of times with the BCS (USC 03, auburn 04) but it looks like it will happen with this year's playoff.

How can you say that? All 6 teams have a legit case for being included.

You couldn't seriously argue that TCU, OSU, or Baylor is more deserving than Bama or Oregon.
With the BCS, it'd be a case of unbeaten, very unimpressive FSU vs very impressive Oregon with 1 loss. Imagine what a cluster frick that would be. Far worse than the current situation.

it wouldn't' thought.
undefeated FSU would still top the polls if we had the old way.
It would be Bama FSU.
Oregon would get left out.

This would still be far worse than leaving out tcu or Baylor or OSU from a 4 team playoff. You'd be leaving a team many view as the best team in the country with no shot at the title. That won't happen this year because of the 4 team playoff.
