He left some major holes unaddressed the last couple offseasons, so while this sucks, we need someone who will feel a little urgency to fix things.

Middle relief
Closer
Leadoff hitter
Anyone who can hit the ball consistently

But where will his next project be? He likes to come in with teams in shite shape, and bloated vet contracts, find suckers(dodgers with redsox) to take those players and fill the farm system.

Who will be his next project? It will be a Large Market team, he ain't going to a small market team.

Bob Nightengale suggesting he could join an investement group for a Nashville expansion team. But it's Bob, so likely not true...but interesting

Would make a lot of sense for him. But no more expansion. Move some one there.

He is great at building teams, not so much at sustaining them

He even admitted this in his press conference today. Said for some reason once year 5-6 gets there, and he's achieved success, he doesn't have the ability to maintain. Admitted that his track record both in Boston and Chicago showed this. I thought it was interesting that he admitted that.

Good luck to him in whatever he chooses to do. Definitely a HOFer.

Theo Epstein said he was interested in a baseball job that allows him to help address some of more existential threats to the game. So I asked him what he thinks those are:

He made one of the worst trades in history with the Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease for Jose Quintana. He has made bad decisions the last few years during the Cubs championship window.

He could have done this three years ago. Team has been absolutely stagnant since then.
