The helmet leaving the head is just another way energy from a large hit is dissipated. By putting in a rule like this, players will tighten the helmet down to a point that the head will get wretched strongly in the wrong direction from a big hit. I hope the helmet manufacturers or colleges sue to remove this silly rule before someone is injured.

Do you see an organization as authoritative as the NCAA admitting they're wrong on their own?

Wow. I'd have to disagree with that.

Physics and biology. What do you think causes the helmet to come off? It's not rocket science. If helmet manufacturers wanted the helmet to stay on during a violent hit, they wouldn't use clips on the chin straps.

They are trying to encourage these kids to keep their chinstraps snapped and tight more than anything I think.

So you think it's a bad thing for helmets to actually fit? Wow.

Yes you want the helmet tight on your head, but hits from underneath drive the head in unnatural direction just likes hits to the top of the crown. You see the injuries to the crown because there is just so much you can do it divert that energy from the base of the neck.

No. Think about how you secure things in everyday life. How often do you clips? It's because they fail. And they are meant to fail.

Im not a scientist by any stretch but i said the same thing when this rule came out so i tend to agree with him. I could be completely wrong just one the things Tebow ponders
