there have been more 8 over 1 upsets in this format then they had before.

There is also much more parity in the league than they had before, and a few special circumstances have arisen because of that.

The 2007 Warriors tanked to get the 8th seed because the Mavs were a great matchup for them.

The Grizz did the same to draw the Spurs in 2011.

If Dallas beats SA this year, yeah it's an 8 over a 1, but the Mavs are an unusually strong 8 seed (basically a 50 win team).

Maybe because we don't fricking jerk off to the NBA and worship at it's altar.

I wouldn't expect someone who has a fricking Spurs Sig year round to understand how casual NBA fans feel.

I'm a 76ers fan frick yeah I'm bitter. We went to the finals once in the last 30 years.

So it's hard to get up for the regular season.

I can see why you'd be bitter, then. Makes sense.

For perspective, I was a Spurs fan before Tim Duncan arrived.

If the playoffs were this good every year I wouldn't feel it was too spaced out. But this year is an anomaly. I've enjoyed this years first round probably about as much as any round ever with a few exceptions like when it was the Lakers vs the Celtics in the finals a few years back and very few other exceptions.

Thats why I only follow NBA until playoffs. Its like a mini season, but with mostly the above average teams.

Eh, it always seems like there's great drama in the NBA playoffs. I understand it's a little different when your squad isn't a part of it. That's not a flame btw.
