SCOOP: The 2022 @NBA schedule will show NO Election Day games.

Instead, all 30 teams will play the Monday before on a themed “civic engagement night,” to encourage fans, players and staff to vote in this year’s midterm elections.

I'd take less issue with this stuff if they were just straight up about it. If it matters that much then just come out and say it.

No, holding “civic engagement nights” that will undoubtedly push one side of an agenda is though. I don’t really have an issue with them not playing games on Election Day, it’s the messaging around the other stuff that I have an issue with

I would have believed this a couple of months ago. I’m not sure if that would still hold now.

No one is going to care, let alone be influenced by a themed NBA basketball game. Feel free to put the pitchfork away sounds like a completely rational thing to give your organization off for

If they simply keep it to encourage engagement then I dont have an issue. If they use it as a soapbox to push issues then I have a problem with it

That’s not the point at all, even if it’s true. Stop using sports as an outlet to push your views on certain issues. I don’t care if it’s influential or not, I don’t watch sports to see it.

Takes like this go 100% against history.

In what world. I am taking a wait and see approach. I have no issue with this if they simply keep it to promoting civic engagement

If thats what happens, then great. It something I hope they keep doing going forward

Unfortunately, I don't know that that's going to be the case anymore. I think the Republicans are finding a way to fumble this and will manage to lose on at least one side, probably in the Senate.

You need to wait and see what the message is still? Are the nonsense slogans off the courts yet? Or are we still saying her name and supporting Jacob Blake and St George?

Based on some of the responses in this thread, it must be.

Yep, encouraging voting is apparently a bad thing now.
