Did Gus just hand him the Heisman over Sam Darnold?

That was a pretty dramatic and exclammatory endorsement during the entire 4th quarter. "The legend of Josh Rosen!" - Gus Johnson

I mean, that was drooling love.

(Or will this game be forgotten?) Becuase if it's not forgotten and he has a decent year and beats USC, he wins the Heisman.

The heisman is a popularity contest anyway, does it even matter anymore?

UCLA is still probably a 7-8 win team. When's the last time they gave a Heisman to a guy on a team with that few wins? Tebow in 2007, right? Lamar Jackson and RG3 both won 9.

The Heisman is kind of a joke of an award. He could be the best player in the country by a mile, but they might not give it to him if they go 7-5.

UCLA will lose plenty of games this year. Rosen will be eliminated pretty quickly.

He's going to continue to flash those NFL skills here and there but like others have said UCLA is probably going to lose a few games, and I think he's going to have a few mediocre games and won't consistently put up the type of stats that other QBs and/or RBs will.

Yeah but...

We haven't had a real Heisman moment for years.

I mean it's only week 1 but Rosen/UCLA - that's front page ESPN now.

The damn article even says: The Legend of Josh Rosen.

If this game happend in week 9, he'd be golden.

And I'm afraid this win, will take him to Johnny Manziel douchebaggery levels.

He played so much better than Donald this week and I'm glad they won but that last TD was not a catch. The WR didn't have control of the ball until he was OB.

A&M is not very good. I'll bet UCLA loses 5-6 games.

Agreed... But who cares????

You DO NOT lose A game after being up 44-10 in the third quarter......

The Heisman is a joke - but handicapping it at this point...

It could be like 1967. UCLA vs. USC...Gary Beban vs. O.J.

Rosen vs. Darnold

I wouldn't be surprised if it shaped out that way.

The good old days of college football.............

The Hiesman meant something back then......

BTW it wasn't even close OJ was the best player by far that year......... AND YES I remember THE GAME... UCLA players tried to pick him up during the game trying to wear him out and it did not work............

The game won't be forgotten, but UCLA wasn't down 34 by accident.

Their run defense was gashed all night and the pass protection could eventually result in Rosen's season ending early again. Even during the comeback, Rosen got away with some poor throws and a couple of false start penalties where he didn't allow everyone to get set.

I think Gus Johnson's legend comment will end up being this season's version of Joe T's "Texas is back" proclamation.

The last thing we needed was an actual reason for Rosen to be cocky. He will be unbearable now.

Wait do you still think anyone, anyone at all, cares about the games you've seen and what you remember about them?

Even for your standards, pretty dumb.

It's already started as I predicted:

Everyone knew the Heisman Trophy favorite resided in Los Angeles, but who predicted it would be UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen after the first game of the season?

Rosen, after nearly a year off, provided many magnificent — and some frustrating — moments in a dramatic 45-44 victory over Texas A&M on Sunday night as the Bruins went on a 35-0 run to end the game.
- Sporting News

College Football: Hand Him The Heisman...UCLA's Josh Rosen throws four touchdowns in the 4th quarter to lead the Bruins back from a 34-point deficit in a 45-44 miracle comeback win over Texas A&M. - NCAA.com

Rosen’s entire night was encapsulated with 43 seconds left when he deftly faked a spike and lofted the final touchdown pass 10 yards into the arms of Lasley in the corner of a suddenly beaten-down end zone. He celebrated with as much amazement as the roaring fans around him, running off the field with his hands wrapped around his head in disbelief, then he pulled off and crazily swung that helmet as he jumped into his teammates’ arms.

That image will remain with him throughout what is surely his final UCLA season, with another image now looming in the background. Yes, yes, that stiff-armed form of the Heisman Trophy. In what felt like 10 minutes, Rosen went from knocked silly to legitimate Heisman candidate.
