probably, but it gets interesting if they somehow don't win it all or they win but there's some ego issues

You're right, and like I've said, they'll be the best team in the league next year. I just think some people are head over heels for the move as if you just plug in 28 points per game from KD into the lineup. They'll be more efficient, but realistically there isn't significant room for improvement.

Few teams will have a shot to counter, but the ones that do will likely have to slow the game down and stay big as much as possible. If you can minimize their possessions with pace and rebounding, which will maximize your own possessions, you'll have a shot.

Something's gotta give, and someone is going to be getting less shots. How will one of their all-star players handle a reduced role?

Nah. they will just run it back and try again knowing another offseason will just help them gel even more. They won't turn their back on being a key part of a possible all time great dynasty.

A lot of it is skill/team-building/good organizational management but they really hit the luck jackpot in terms getting two superstars in Klay and Steph with ideal temperaments and egos and a fiery leader who is a self sacrificer and prides himself in dong the dirty work. And a guy in Iggy who sees the larger picture and sets the tone for the role players.

Its a perfect storm. I would love this team to have an epic fallout but I think the only thing creating that would be serious career changing injuries.

Maybe not, but Durant and Steph will likely tie up $65MM between them. Throw in Green and Thompson and you're on the hook for $99MM between 4 players. That is $8MM below the expected cap and $29MM below the projected luxury tax level. Considering guys like Mozgov are getting $16MM/year you're going to have hell filling out the roster without opening yourself up to huge luxury tax issues.

This game is won in the margins. 7 game series in the WCF, 7 game series in the Finals. It's the incremental differences that add up over the course of a series.

And also remember, this is all in response to the OP stating that GS will be worst next season.

I think just the ability to improve and lengthen the average duration of that lineup of death is a pretty significant boost.

And I think where their biggest improvement will come from is exactly what you are saying, when teams try to do what the Cavs and OKC did to them. With Durant they have a guy that can thrive in that situation because he has his whole career.

Their biggest ??? was rebounding and rim protection but they got better in the former and I think remained solid in the latter.

People will say rim protection because Bogut >> Zaza but Durant is actually a really solid rim protector in his own right so you are adding rim protection with Durant >>>Barnes but giving it up with Zaza. But you are probably making it a wash by reducing the number of possessions due to better rebounding.

YUGE

Reports were saying GS received lots of calls and that they wouldn't have trouble filling out the roster.

I'm amused and intrigued. Already can't wait for next season to see how all this plays out

Golden State will not be worse, no matter what way you try to twist this, that is just not true.

They will be worse in the regular season. I guarantee that, mostly because i think it is truly impossible to be better than the GS was last regular season.. I see them strugglig early on with their chemistry and how they are going to play with each other, many growing pains. They finish with 55-62 wins or so.

On the other hand, in the playoffs, they will roll. By that time they will have it all figured out. It will be unfair how good they are. I could fully see them sweer their way to the finals.

I'm ready for the season to start tomorrow. I want to see how their offensive flow is. I want to see all of these open shots that they've promised KD, and in turn each other. and lastly, I want a team to finally embrace darth vader status. embrace that shite, don't do anything to sully it.
