A few fans?
The quote clearly states "relatively few," meaning compared to the total number of Cubs fans (millions) a relative few (several thousand) acted inappropriately towards Bartman. I'm not trying to downplay what he went through because his life was changed forever for simply being a fan at a baseball game. But blaming the entire Cubs fan base on this is just as short-sighted as those who blamed Bartman. In fact, it's the exact same mentality.

Lol
And you're probably an LSU fan. Same fanbase that wishes death to recruits on Twitter who chose other schools or to their own players when they throw an interception

Message board machoism is a little different than people throwing trash and screaming at that dude when he simply did what just about any other person would have done. Poor comparison. Someday some reputable representative of the Chicago Cubs will say the right things in retrospect and people will begin to put the matter behind them. Until then, the perception will not change. Sad but true.

Yea, never seen a bottle or worse chucked from above at Tiger Stadium. Never heard fans berating their own and opposing teams

And who knows if they haven't. Bartman hasnt spoken publicly since. The front office and ownership isnt the same from 2003. Many players from that '03 team have said they would apologize if given the chance. Journalists offered up apologies.
There are a lot of dumbasses who will blame Bartman, just like there are a lot of dumbasses in every fan base. There are a lot of people who would give that dude a hug, too
