That will kill the morale before opening day.

This was such an amazing trade for us! We dumped Upton's salary. We got a great arm in Wisler. No need for Kimbrel in a rebuild Plus we added a good draft pick and two major league outfielders. My favorite move of the offseason for sure.

The problem is who the hell knows if Wisler (or any prospect they acquired this offseason) will actually be a good MLB player?

Oh I know. Getting Upton's contract off the books is nice. But this team is going to be dreadful for several years as a result of this offseason

That's just kind of how prospects and farm systems work. It's why teams have scouting departments.

Yes, but probably doesn't sit well in the clubhouse.

We were already going to be terrible which is why it doesnt make sense to keep a closer with a huge contract We have some great prospects now, and money to sign free agents in the offseason. There are some great players becoming free agents next year too.

If half these prospects pan out in the rotation, we will have a plethora of depth from which to acquire some hitting.

I get trading a closer off a horrible team. I really do. I guess my frustration is more with the overall offseason than it is with this particular trade. Braves got fleeced in the Heyward deal and traded the rest of their big bats (except Freeman, if they had traded him too I would have completely lost it) for a bunch of question marks. I don't wanna see the Braves serious contenders to lose 100 games a year for the next 3-4 years but that's what it looks like is going to happen.

Honestly, what did you expect for one year of Jason Heyward?

I disagree. We aren't that much worse than we were a day ago. We may be better with Maybin. We will win 70 games this year with our pitching alone. We will be much better next year.

I'm not exactly sure but I feel like STL front office was laughing their asses off when they made that deal.

Shelby Miller is one hell of a piece to get. Don't under estimate him.

Yeah it is. I really like him. He has a power arm and great off speed stuff.
