eah, I'd rather Bourjos... if he can be the guy he was in 2011. Then he's basically just cheap Michael Bourn.

I don't understand why we would have any interest in Bourjos when we have a CF. Most of Upton's value comes from being a solid CF. Being a below average hitting LF would make Upton's contract a gigantic waste. Not to mention Bourjos's upside is probably that 2011 season, rather than what he would likely hit.

If we were going to trade for Bourjos we would have made him a target when we moved Hanson, I can't see us trading for him now.

@DKnobler: Braves very excited about Evan Gattis, suggesting to teams that they could even go with him in LF next year. We'll see.

True enough. To be clear I meant between he and Trumbo. Don't really want either.

Yeah, not really wanting either. Honestly if we can't get a real impact bat like Willingham or similar (which is looking unlikely at this juncture), I'd rather just see what a slimmer Francisco and Gattis can do.

Pointless to give up real talent for some .750-.800 OPS guys when can likely get the same value from a platoon of guys we already have.

Actually totally agree.

Right now, I'm on the Gattis/Francisco platoon bandwagon unless the price on some of these dudes comes way down.

Those two could actually give a pretty good mashing pair.

Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. At worst, it doesn't work out and you have two excellent trade chips at the break in Delgado and Teheran with Beachy coming back.

My thoughts as well.

And there's always bats available at the break

You'd have 6 guys with 20 homer pop.

Heyward, Freddie, Upton, McCann, Gattis/Juan and Ugh-la.

Yes.

Sounds like Choo was our top target.

A damn shame. He was the perfect fit.

Some of this is probably positioning. Wren trying to either capitalize on Gattis as an asset OR trying to drive down the price of potential targets by letting others know he's "content."

Our Atlanta Braves have started the first edition of ESPNs Power Rankings at #9..

Buster Olney had this to say about Atlanta:

9. Atlanta Braves

It's the first year without Chipper Jones, who was still a really good offensive player in 2012. But they have so many talented, young players that the Braves can feel good about their chances for getting better -- from the world's best closer, Craig Kimbrel, to Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman, to Mike Minor. Brandon Beachy figures to be back sometime this season, as well.

I think it's funny no one wants Michael Bourn.

I'm glad to see someone stand up to Boras, but he'll probably still get his money. It might be the Mariners, but he'll get his money.

My room mate is a manager at Target in Roswell and said Chipper was in there today buying a ton of toys for his kids with his new blonde girl friend. He said he bought like 10 video games, a random assortment of toys, and a basketball goal

I guess he helped him put the stuff in his car and as Chipper was leaving told him "thanks for the memories", so jealous.
