Braves acquire Alex Jackson and a PTBNL from Seattle for Rob Whalen and Max Povse.

I had Povse as the #22 prospect in the Braves organization and #12 pitching prospect.

Jackson likely slots in at #19 or #20.

Thats a whole bunch of meh in that trade. Doubtful anyone would care except for the fact that Jackson was the #6 player taken in the 2014 draft. I didnt like him then, and I dont like him now. He'll already be 21 by the time the season starts.

Its a good thing we basically gave up nothing to get him.

You do realize this is considered young when we are talking about prospects?

I like the move. Whalen and Povse aren't anywhere near our top arms. Jackson is still young with a very high ceiling. I like taking chances on guys with tons of potential and pop.

I never understood Alex Jackson as the sixth overall pick. Not my type of player. Lots of holes in his game and a crazy high chance of doing nothing, especially for a first rounder.

Our system is loaded with average RH arms. I'm completely fine with letting go of a couple of those for a boom/bust position prospect with the potential to hit for power if he pans out. Apparently Hart is interested in moving him back to catcher.

Even if Jackson turns out to be a bust, it's a good deal strictly based on ceiling. He's still young enough to figure things out.

For a guy thats only been a professional for 2 1/2 years out of high school, thats old, especially when he is probably going to be in A ball again, and has shown no signs of improving since he was signed.

Fair enough, but I just don't see his ceiling approaching what some of the industry thinks. He is someone that scouts find divisive, and I just don't see it. Of course, they know a lot more than me.

I see it as a way for them to bring in a guy with high upside while freeing up a 40 man spot (Whalen) for Rodriguez and had to give up Povse to make it happen.

Pirates are making Josh Harrison available...would be an interesting short term pickup to play 3B

We're going to roll with Garcia/Ruiz/Rodriguez. Really no need for him, especially since we need to know what we have in Ruiz.

Yeah, I'd rather see Garcia or Ruiz at third than pay anything for Harrison. I'm not a big fan of him to be honest. I'd roll with Rodriguez at 2B primarily with occasional breaks for Jace.
