Good article. I can't believe BJ Upton is in position to get more plate appearances than anyone else.

But as Upton has batted .228 with a .291 on-base percentage in the 35 games he has manned the lineup's top spot entering Saturday, he has not proven to be the best option to fill that role. The Padres' Everth Cabrera is the only player to compile a lower OBP (.290) as a leadoff hitter (minimum 35 games) this year.

"You look at the numbers, and he has been productive there," Gonzalez said. "You always try to put guys in positions where they are going to be productive or as productive as you can."

Ladies and gentlemen, the incredible Frediot...

Well, He's been better than at any other spot. It isn't saying much, but he has slightly improved. Poor choice of words for Fredi there.

He's been better there than he has in other spots, but he's still the worst option among any of the starting position players.

Speaking of offers (i've only read the 2nd page) I was listening to 92.9 The Game today on the drive home and they were talking about how the Braves and an undisclosed team had a deal in place to send both BJ Upton and a starting pitcher (believed to be either Minor or Santana) but the Braves rejected at the last minute because they didn't feel the return was good enough.

ETA: And now that i've gone to page one I can see that Tween The Hedges has beat me to it. Some retard texted in and said that he read online that it was for Justin Verlander. I SERIOUSLY doubt it, but if that were true then frick the Barves.

Verlander certainly fits the 'bad contract' bill, but no way the Braves would be willing to take on that contract.

Don't think the Tigers would do that deal either, even though it would save them a lot of money.

Seriously doubt it was him.

Props to you for sticking it out. I am impressed by the amount of fans that stuck around. I thought it would be totally empty.

Yeah, that one fits the bill for no way that happens from either teams perspective. No way we pay Verlander 28 mil a year till 2019, even if he wasn't sucking. His deal makes BJ's look good right now.
