Vaugh’s starting, so I’m assuming Frick is left handed. Now that it’s played out, I don’t actually mind how they’re using him. Not many LH starters, so about a start a week and a couple late pinch hit ABs for Lopez if we’re down and facing a LH reliever. Nicky’s glove is just too good to take out of the lineup if he’s hitting at all. Especially since with Ozuna and Eddie being our only offense basically right now, we’re playing in a lot of close games where runs/outs are so valuable.

In a perfect world, I’d rather he have more, but if VG is only getting 6-7 ABs a week against big league pitching, that’s probably still better prep for October than 25/week in Gwinnett.

Pillar hitting in the two hole was the giveaway for me.

I don't think Eddie should be platooning when he's this hot.

Didn’t even notice that.

Agreed.

Listening to my guy Jake from Locked On talking about barreled balls. The definition is some combo of exit velo (starting at 98 mph, I think) and launch angle that results in a BA over .500 and a SLG of over 1.500. The higher the exit velo, the wider the launch angle range. (I didn’t catch the exact numbers but it starts somewhere around 26 degrees and ends somewhere in the 30s).

Anyway, the Braves have 391 “barreled ball events” this season. 2nd place? Dodgers with 309. So we lead them by 83, more than a quarter of their entire total. Is that good

2022’s “barreled ball event” leaders:

1) Braves—439

2) Yankees—411

3) Dodgers—388

So Braves already have 3 more than the 3rd place team from last year.

Barrel percentage? Braves lead MLB at 12%. 2nd place are the Twins at 10.3%. Braves lead MLB last year at 10.9%.

Ohtani leads MLB with 66 by himself. (Damn, son). Olson is 2nd with 61 and Ronnie is 3rd with 60.

ETA—there’s some really good shite on here that I can’t keep up with.

Posting to bring this to the top, which is why I started another thread which I’ve asked to be deleted.

Back to the barreled balls thing. Riley is 13th (?) and Ozuna is 16th or 17th. So we have 4 guys in the top 17. 7 guys in the top 100 that qualify and Murphy has enough barrels to be like top 50, but not enough ABs to qualify. So that’s 8 guys in the top 100 of all MLB players. Our whole lineup besides Mike. And that’s not just %, that’s actual number of barrels.

I’ll continue to ask this…

Why doesn’t Nemo sprint back to the dugout after he strikes out?

He’s so eager to sprint when he walks.

They are going to hunt and fish for another sound bite to compare to the “That will do it!” “Pour Larry a Crown” moment which is literally impossible to recreate but so glad to see these guys together again. The game, the circumstance and the moment were too big to recreate tonight but I will love their stories tonight regardless. Just hope they don’t try too hard to recreate or top that.
Wish I was there wearing my blue “Pour Larry a Crown” T!
Let’s Go Braves!!!

There’s not a player in the game I hate more than Brandon Nimmo. He’s right ahead of that ratfrick McNeil.

No argument from me but this Stewart kid is on his way too. Thinks he’s Babe Ruth or something.
