The 1960 eagles with only 2 hof, two way center, mlb bednarik, and qb norm van broklin, beat packers with 10 hof in champ game. Eagles bednarik played every down, offense and defense. He made the game saving tackle at the eagle 10.

Only playoff defeat lombardi suffered. Went on five yr streak. Pack missed field goals and went for it on 4th a couple times and were stopped in red zone. Ha!
Eagles tommy MacDonald heisman okie rb/wr had good game.

1976 Taiders are one of my favorite NFL teams of all time... but they were not as good as the 1978 Steelers...... they took advantadge if a lucky call against NE in the divisional round and got to play Pittsburgh without out Harris and Blier....

That was their penance for capitalizing on the Immaculate Deception.

From 1972-to-1977 the Steelers and Raiders played ten times with both teams winning 5 of those contests.

They played in the divisional playoff round in back-to-back years (1972-1973), and those games were split.

Then at the height of the rivalry, the Silver & Black faced the Black and Gold in three straight AFC Championship games from 1974-to-1976. Pittsburgh won two out of three and during that span, both organizations were crowned world champions.

“That was a very good football team. When we lost to the Steelers in ’75, I just couldn’t believe it.” – former Raiders LB Phil Villapiano

Raiders finally got their redemption in 1976.

One of the best duos of all-time; Branch should be in the HOF.

They also lost to a somewhat decent Lions team 26-14 on thanksgiving day giving up like 9 sacks.... they were mauled that game

Statistically, the 1962 Lions had one of the best defenses in NFL history.

That was the game where Pittsburgh's groundskeeper iced the field to negate Oakland's speed on offense

I've never heard that. Ever...

Everyone makes a big deal about the snowplow game with New England...

“The ice may have been worse than the cold, especially the ice along the sidelines,” said Raiders coach John Madden after the game. “It made it tough for our receivers, because we use them for turning and cutting and working their way back to the ball. A lot of times when we thought we had something going, we couldn’t use those things.”

Raiders lost 16-10 but...

First Downs: Raiders 18; Steelers 16

Third downs: Raiders 39%; Steelers 38%

Total yards: Raiders 321; Steelers 332

Rushing yards: Raiders 93; Steelers 117

Passing yards: Raiders 228; Steelers 215

Penalties: Raiders 4 for 40; Steelers 3 for 32

Fumbles: Raiders 4; Steelers 5

It was maybe the most statistically even Pro game ever played...

Raider propaganda?

Jesus Christ!

Raiders have been penalized by more bullshite than anyone else.

Oh yeah, he's passing...(and please, stop with the history you were sold by from the league - it wasn't a good or clear interpretation of a bad rule - it was a HORRIBLE interpretation of a bad rule...a total fabrication and interpretation that changed the intent of the rule.)

It still amazes me after all the articles and analysis people still buy the bullshite that was fed them way back when from the league and media.

People hear something initially - fabricated to save face by the league and they buy it and move on...and that's their sad un-informed memory. And they spout it back at picnics or cook-outs like they are intelligent.

So don't give me - Raider propaganda. Raider nation paranoia?

Uhh, the entire league sues you!

You are gag-ordered to never speak to the public for a year as an owner because you questioned the integrity of the league.

You are threatened to be black-balled from the league by Rozelle who never liked the recognition nor the stance Al took in merging the leagues. Al thought the NFL should go frick themselves and compete on a level playing field.

Tags continued the vendetta.

Raiders were the winningest franchise in all of sports % wise until about 1988 despite the world being against them.

This on the other hand is 5*, Brilliant insight, would read again .

I at least explained why I find discussing great teams from the 60's uninteresting particularly in basketball
