Nadal finished 6th and then 4th in golf at one of the biggest Mid-Am events in Spain…..

Lot of rumors when he retires from tennis he will try to go pro in golf

Serena Williams in her prime couldn't win a single game against any male professional tennis player, then this argument you're trying to make is stupid.

Serena would get worked by a good D1 men's player.

Women cannot compete with men in tennis.

Pride has shown that women have and can compete with men in golf.

Stay mad golf bros.

The average Joe golfer probably shoots around 88-90 (by average I mean handicap, which most golfers don't even keep, so its probably worse)

The average golfer can't break 100.

So you are saying the best women's golfer of all time missing the cut by 4 strokes makes your argument?

Bobby Riggs only beating Billy Jean King 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 invalidates your whole argument.

No he hasn't.

Having one good round of golf, Anika even said it was her best round ever, doesn't mean they can compete. 72 holes of golf is a lot different than 18. If Anika had played all 4 rounds she would have gotten lapped by the field.

She beat one golfer in that tournament. That is not competitive. And that one player probably played about as bad as he had on tour that year.

I’m not getting into the argument of tennis vs golf but the people acting like even a really good CC golfer could step onto a tour prepped course and play at their normal level are clueless.

Yall realize that those PGA courses are way fricking longer than the country club right? Most tour set ups are 7200 yards or more. That’s like a normal 18 hole course plus an additional two holes.

That’s not even getting into the thicker rough cuts, deeper bunkers and MUCH faster greens that tour players deal with.

I would shoot mid to low 70's when I worked at Santa Maria years ago, but once a year when we would hold the Baton Rouge Open I could barely break 90. And that's just the Baton Rouge Open. But these guys think someone like me or people a few strokes better would be able to hold our own in a pro tournament.

I remember watching head pros from some major courses qualifying for some tournaments and getting crushed by the actual pros.

You're out of your element Donnie. You may know tennis, but you don't know anything about golf.

There's a big difference between a pro course and a pro course in tour conditions. I grew up playing TPC Southwind plenty, which has hosted the FedEx St Jude Classic for over 30 years now. That course was worlds different when the members played than on tournament week.

For starters, the Tour tees were about 1000 yards further than the mens tees and about 500 yards longer than the normal tips. Then you add in the fact that the fairways are brought in, the rough twice as high, the pins more difficult to attack, and the greens rolled. Hell, it's even a par 71 course for the members but a par 70 for the PGA tour event. Yeah, not even close to the same playing conditions or really even the same course honestly

I've read before that Nadal is, in fact, a scratch golfer.

What is absolutely amazing to me is Nadal is right handed. He was was coached from a young age to play tennis left handed.

Can you imagine being right handed and learning to throw a football or baseball left handed?

Sure but she would not be embarassed in the same way as Serena playing Rafa or Fed.

The element of directly playing against men in tennis is way different. Serena would have zero shot and would look totally silly.

Annika would still be playing well b/c the physical difference is not as magnified in golf as tennis.

Why are you golf bros arguing this? It's really a simple concept. lmaoo

The argument is not which sport is easier to not embarrass yourself in

Dude, women have been relatively more competitive in professional golf than women ever will be in tennis.

You cannot argue this case with a straight face.

Women aren't winning PGA tour tournaments but they will and have done better than any woman could hope to do in an ATP level men's tournament.

ETA: Women are not winning tournaments in either sport against the men so that is a moot point and irrelevant.
