So just looking at the opposing PG's percentage and assuming it was because of Kyrie doesn't make much sense?

exactly what i said. the cavs are able to mask him defensively and still perform at that end. AS A TEAM.

offensively? not so much. without irving, they would be a lot worse at that end.

You don't get to mask Kyrie against the Warriors.

Kyrie gave up those numbers in spite of not being given tough assignments when possible. Now imagine 7 games where he is guarding either Curry or Klay. 50% or less seems unrealistic.

That's partially why the Thunder are a better matchup. You can put Smith and Delly on Westbrook and Kyrie on Robertson. With the Warriors it's pick your poison because one of the splash brothers are gonna have a chance to go off.

so, you're telling me that you think kyrie's defensive performance would outweigh his offensive performance in a series against the warriors last season? because that's all this is about.

the same cavs who shot 196/511 (38%) as a team in the Finals last season. if you don't think having one of the best ten offensive players in the league would have significantly helped their offensive efficiency, then you're crazy. especially when his replacement shot 28% and had just about as many turnovers as assists.

and yes, helped it more than whatever they would have had to give up on defense.

You really don't give enough credit to what Delly did. He literally shut down the MVP in game 2. Shut him the Frick down. 0-8. It shocked the Warriors coming off a 50% Curry performance in game 1. Even if they tried to downplay it.

Irving doesn't go down and Kyrie is now defending Curry for 20+ minutes and the whole series looks different. Do the Cavs score more? Absolutely. But does Curry look like a bum in game 2? Insanely doubtful. He probably looks a lot like game 1 and game 3 Curry after he adjusted and shoots 50% and knocks down 7 threes.

I think the series looks different, but I'm not sure it's much different in outcome. For one I doubt they lose game 2 without the shock of Delly defensively beasting. But again, we are all talking hypotheticals. This is ultimately futile.

the cavs shot 29/90 in that game. does their offense look that pitiful without kyrie? extremely doubtful.

agreed. but i have serious doubts that the cavs don't perform better in the finals with irving. they were terrible in games 4, 5, and 6.

No, the Warriors lucking into playing depleted teams due to injury is the reason they have a ring.

I'm just not impressed with how he carries himself and his arrogance toward his players especially when discussing anything at all with the media. Whatever Pop's media persona would be, he seems to be the complete opposite.
I mean, Pop is probably more arrogant with the media than the other 29 coaches in the league combined. No clue what you're talking about.

Did you see Pop's press conferences after the last couple of games against OKC?
