To me, one of the more interesting storylines around the Cubs' win has been the possible emergence of Steve Bartman.
I was hoping that we would finally get a public appearance from a man who has seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth since 2003, but it looks like it won't happen.
Kind of crazy to think that, for 13 years, this man has hidden himself away from the public, and will likely continue to do so. He truly does seem like the best of us.

Murtha told USA Today Sports that Bartman still lives and works in the Chicago area but would not make an appearance at the Cubs' victory parade Friday.
"We don't intend to crash the parade," Murtha said. "The one thing that Steve and I did talk about was if the Cubs were to win, he did not want to be a distraction to the accomplishments of the players and the organization."

Regardless, at least he got to see them win it.
Good for him.

If I were that dude I never would've stayed in Chicago. I feel like I would've moved to nowhere North Dakota where no one knew me or cared.

The re-emergence of a man who an entire city scapegoated for years is interesting to me.
Plus I just want to see what he actually looks and sounds like.

He really doesn't owe them shite.

His possible emergence was interesting but he wasn't a public figure before and I guess he wants it to stay that way.

It's crazy, you could literally be standing right next to him and you wouldn't even know it's him. It's amazing how we have no pics of him in this age of social media.

No, but Chicago owes him. Big time.

He could very well be in that parade crowd and nobody would know.

well this is before facebook and social media
if this happened last year, we'd know everything about him.

The Cubs organization, fans, and media need to leave that guy the frick alone.
He has made his intentions fairly clear at this point.
He is still a Cubs fan but he wants nothing to do with the rest of the chodes who support the Cubs organization.

This.
The only image most people have seen of him is a goofy looking guy in a Walkman and turtleneck. Do you think anybody could point him out in a crowd? Apparently he still goes to games all the time.
