Despite his accomplishments, Lacy's base pay ranks 45th among NFL running backs in 2015. Starks ranks 24th at $1,175,000. Among the NFL's other million-dollar running backs are Taiwan Jones of the Oakland Raiders, Bilal Powell of the New York Jets, Lance Dunbar of the Dallas Cowboys, Toby Gerhart of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Donald Brown of the San Diego Chargers. Actually, Gerhart and Brown are more than million-dollar backs; Gerhart is getting $2.5 million and Brown $3 million this season.

His 2015 base salary of $713,041 ranks 31st on the Packers' payroll.

I guess it makes sense given where he was taken in the draft, but damn. You would think the your feature back, the one on the video games, the one with everyone talks about on the pregame shows would rank a little higher than 31st on the team in terms of salary.

But he's free to go looking next year if he chooses, he'll get paid.

I think they went too far in the opposite direction in the last CBA. The rookies needed a paycut based on a sliding scale, but a star running back taken in the 2nd round in his third year should be making a few million.

I think there should be some higher incentives built into the rookie wage scale. Like a 1m bonus for all pro, 300k if you start all 16 games etc. Crazy that guys like Wilson and Lacy go through their first few years so poorly paid AND not allowed to negotiate a longer term contract that would set them up for life.

I noticed that last night. Dude is straight up fat. Losing muscle mass and gaining a gut. Reminds me of Mike Tolbert

Alright, don't go crazy.

Lacy's weight gain doesn't seem to affect his play at all. The only concern I have is that the more you weigh, the more stress is put on your joints. He needs to get with a trainer and dietician and find the happy medium.

He does look pretty solid. That weight probably helps him in some way.

He's straight up FAT. It's weird that they don't keep his gut under control. He still gets it done though.

Rookie contracts!
Too bad RB's shelf life makes it difficult for them to get a big payday anymore. Jeremy Hill is in same boat with Bengals.

If anyone thinks these teams don't have trainers and dieticians, you're crazy.

And I can pretty much guarantee you the team has a playing weight they want him to be at. Admittedly if he's over, I don't know about it. But the guy is a fricking beast. He's about as low on the "I don't want to tackle this guy" as Lynch. And he still has good speed.

As far as handling him and his next contract, in Ted we trust. The guy has earned the benefit of the doubt, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them take a back relatively high this year. The Pack seems to plan ahead and plan for contingencies a bit better than most other teams.
