That was absolutely pathetic from the Blues.

Taking off my homer glasses I just think they are being outclassed in this series by the better team so far. I wish it were not so but Hitch's system and the roster they have put together doesnt mesh well with todays NHL. Its a dying brand of hockey IMO. You can see they the team is gassed. The skill players are gassed.

Hope Im wrong but I see a quick capitulation in Game 6 in San Jose.

St Louis has played better on the road so far this playoff though. Home ice doesn't appear to mean anything to them right now

For sure. The Sharks have been the better team. It's still pathetic when you can't even get possession and get out of your own zone with an extra skater, though. That's just sad.

Elliot probably goes back in goal even though Blues soft defense gave the Sharks way too many point blank chances right in front of the net.

At least Grichuk walks off Scrubs, so tonight wasn't a complete disaster. Nice comeback win.

Watch the Blues when they gain the neutral zone in transition. Its either a chip or dink on the strong side and a dump in or a open and clear pass to the weak side followed by a dump in. The skill players are not making plays in the neutral zone at all. That is systemic in nature.

What that does is cause every line to have to chase and forecheck. You are asking your skill lines to do more than they need to, IMO, to create offense. That will erode a team over time and multiply that over two very tough series against Dallas and Chicago and I believe thats why we are where we are at now.

Hitch like to talk about "buy in" from a team standpoint but he doesnt like to think about adjusting his "style" in regards to transition and gaining the offensive zone. He obviously has won a stanley cup but his history as a coach show that he and his message ans style are short lived becasue it taxes a team unnecessarily.

Yeah, everybody has looked gassed since Game 1 of this series.

I think the injury crisis during the regular season actually benefitted this team. In fact, I think it's the reason we're watching the Blues make a deeper run this year. In years past we've watched Hitch's style wear the players down come playoff time. So many guys were out for extended periods I think it kept them fresh. In a way, bad luck with injuries might have actually been good fortune with the way Hitch's system plays out.

I don't know if they'll let Hitch go after making it to at least Game 6 of the WCFs, though. Keeping him is the safe option for the guys in the front office making the decision. They know he's going to get you in the playoffs and potentially win a round or two.

Just realized, the Blues will have to win 3 game 7's to reach the finals now. Not impossible, but that's a tough road for any team. The Lightning got beat up to hell and back from playing to many long-series (Two 7 game series & one 6 game series) last year. It wears a team down and the Lightning didn't have much left in the tank. After Johnson's wrist got blown up in game 1, that was the last straw that broke the monkey's back. The Lightning hung tough but the grind of the NHL playoffs is a brutal one. That's why I've got much respect for any team that has reached the promise-land. Regardless, that Pavelski is a good player and is one of those players you marvel at the things he does. If the Blues don't get a answer for him and their star players don't step up, it's hard to imagine them reaching the finals.

Now the Lightning have a opportunity to end this series at home tonight, like last years conference final. When given a chance, it's best to put a good team down at home. I hope the Lightning learned that lesson last season and end this series. Plus, they might even get a chance to heal some but this series has been all over the palce. So who knows? Both teams have had their moments, so we'll see who rises to the occasion when it matters most. One thing is for sure, the Lightning have to play with the same urgency they play when facing the chopping axe....

Go Lightning !!!!

He should have started last night, but that wouldn't fit the Hitch M.O. of propping up Allen.

It's pretty crazy how similar the Pens and Blues have been.

Pens start Fleury, lose game 5 at home, game 6 starter back to Murray.

Blues start Allen, lose game 5 at home, game 6 starter back to Elliott.

Be mad all you want, the team overall played pretty pathetically last night though and I don't think any change would have saved their skin. Need more as a whole

Agreed. Elliot wouldn't have stopped those wide open shots at point blank range either.

YAYYYYYY Hockey's integrity is not besmirched, disallowing goals for meaningless centimeters since 2015.
