How does it hurt his legacy?

He's wallowing on a middling team at the end of his career mainly because he won't take a paycut. That's what's tarnishing his legacy.

If you think this is tarnishing his legacy, then I have to question what I thought was your strong knowledge of basketball. Ten years down the road, no one will bring up and Kobe and think, "wow, he stayed around too long. He actually was not that great. It will have no impact. He is the 100th+ superstar to do this. No one remembers it in the long run.

Also, how is it Kobe's fault that Nash has one foot in the grave, Randle got hurt in the first game, and they essentially swapped Gasol for Carlos fricking Boozer? Even if Kobe took $10-15 million this year, the Lakers would have sucked.

It seriously is my favorite game ever. Not trolling.

I think it fits into the narrative that he's a selfish player, fair or unfair.

He is definitely a selfish player, but this not new. 2014 Kobe and beyond is just out there to accumulate stats. Up through 2012, Kobe was one of the premier players in the league, which is just insane at 34.
