Yeah. Is the dictionary wrong? I mean, redskin isn't an obscure word. If it was offensive, it would have been characterized as such.

You guys are trying to rewrite history, but the dictionary from the 1980's is a freeze-frame in history.

I love how you keep trying to move the goal posts

The dictionary currently says it's offensive.

You're trying to rewrite history blah blah

Dude in 1979 Redskin wasn't what you called native Americans. "So class, when Columbus came over he met the Redskins. Now let's welcome the nice Redskin who came to class today to spend some time with us regarding his history"

How can anyone possibly argue that redskins wasnt used negatively in media, mainly Westerns, before the 60's

Now they are a private organization who can do what they want, but it is a joke to claim that they are trying to honor native Americans

You also wouldn't say here is the black guy visiting class today.

Redskin wasn't commonly used in the 1970's but it wasn't racist.

History is constantly being "rewritten." Or rather, newly understood. My 90 year old grandfather vehemently denies that Japanese internment camps existed during WWII because he "never heard anything about it."

but the dictionary from the 1980's is a freeze-frame in history.

A freeze-frame of how history was understood in the 1980s. 20 years from now, we could have this exact same argument and I could say, "I have a dictionary from 2014 and it clearly states that 'redskin' is an offensive term."
