So who thinks "Wins" is a stat worth a shite for MLB pitchers?

Drew Hutchison won Wednesday despite allowing seven runs -- three earned -- in five innings against the Twins.
The guy is 10-2 this season with a 5.42 ERA. The nine runs the Jays scored for him tonight hardly looks out of place. They've scored at least six runs in his last six starts (two of which they lost anyway). They've scored doubles figures in his starts three times, and they've never once failed to score at least three runs in his 22 outings

Yeah, I was reading Yahoo comments on the game, and some Jays fans were like "we gotta pull this guy out of the rotation."

Don't get me started on TD passes or TD/Int ratio....

I was LOLing at the Blue Jays for clearly leaving him to get that last out when he was obviously going to give up a few more runs. Almost cost them the game but as usual Ole Baw Hutch got the Dubya

He's such a passive looking frick - I think that's what really sets them off. His dumb face and his dumb beard and his dumb demeanor makes it all somehow that much worse

Well, his FIP and xFIP are a run and a half lower than his ERA.

Watching Hutchison throughout the year, it's mind boggling just how inconsistent he is. Not only just game-to-game, but inning-to-inning and sometimes even batter-to-batter.

Gives up 3 quick ones in the first to Twins last night, second time around against 1-4 -- double play ground out, strikeout, strikeout and strikeout.

Next time through is when Mauer did well to poke a pitch into left that scored a run, Hutch then gets ahead of Sano 1-2, but serves up a meatball on 3-2 in which Sano launches for a homer.

Ironically, a lot of saber guys were drooling over Hutch this year.

He has obviously been lucky with run support, but you can't be shocked with him getting great run support behind a lineup of mashers.

The weird thing is that he has generally been good at Rogers Centre and god awful on the road.

Rafael Soriano is 2-0 with the Cubs with a 6.35 ERA, a 6.80 FIP and a 1.588 WHIP. He's given up 8 hits (2 of them HR) in 5.2 IP.

Hutchison is the most Jekyll and Hyde pitcher in the league.

Nobody that follows baseball closely, but your win/loss record can be indicative of your peripherals.

I don't think it's worth a whole lot. It definitely is not the main indicator of a pitcher's success and Hutchinson is a perfect example. If he played for the Cubs, he'd be 2-10 with a 5.42 ERA. Blue Jays just score a ton of runs.

Soriano should be taken out to the pasture. I was not happy about that signing with his shite velocity. there are so many other reclamation projects I preferred.

Not the be-all, but not irrelevant, either. It's one piece of a puzzle.

It all evens out if they play long enough. I doubt there are many guys with bad peripherals with 300 wins.

Nathan Eovaldi is 11-2 with a 4.30 ERA.

Not that 4.30 is completely terrible or anything, but probably not good enough to warrant 11 wins.

The objective of playing is to win the game. How you win them is less important than winning them.

Wasn't this an issue with Roger Clements one year with the Yankees? He won the Cy Young and had a great win-loss record but a very high ERA, because the Yankees would score 5, 6, or 7 runs a game.

Well you're talking about team records and he's asking about the stat version of harold reynolds.
