If Houston wins and goes to a BCS game, doesn't the conference split something like $15 million?

17 Mil to split among C-USA
Congrats.
the MWC will get it now if TCU can move up 2 spots in the BCS.

That should be their new school slogan: Southern Miss, even when you win, you lose.

Over 1 million which for smaller schools that is one truck load of cash Houston just blew for everyone by being a fraud.

Around 1 mill. But screw it. I want the title over the money

$17 mil was a little over estimated.
But, it's still a LOT of money.

Actual number was closer to 11 mil

I knew it was wrong.
Craig James sucks again.

If they can leverage it into an offer to join the Big 12 then maybe it would be worth it.

quote:17 mil is the estimated payout per team for the Sugar so it is spot on.

So about 1.4 million split if the conference split is 100% even.
The Rose & BCS Championship games pay 1 mil more.

You are removing travel expenses and the difference from the alternate bowl game payout
Posted on 12/3/11 at 3:16 pm to JG77056
They will recoup some via the better bowl game.

craig sucks at alot of things

All the non-AQ conferences have to split the money so they may have cost themselves 500k or so...

quote:any bowl will have travel expenses so they are a wash. I doubt anyone from cusa makes a bowl remotely as good as the 17 mil payout from the Sugar. I would bet the payout will be less than 1 million. So yes, Houston losing probably cost the total conference about 16 million.

When Boise went to the BCS games in the WAC La Tech would get around 600k or so. It is different for non-AQ schools in that all the conferences spilt some of the BCS money. Boise would get between 3-4 million per BCS game

It cost Conference USA its first ever representative in a BCS bowl, worth an additional $8 million.

If the Cougars take the conference championship and an automatic bid to a BCS bowl (likely the Sugar), the subsequent windfall will mean an extra $8 million for C-USA to be split among its teams, including Southern Miss.

You think the players care about that?
Posted on 12/3/11 at 5:10 pm to geauxtigers2
Not at all. As an alumnus, IDGAF, people are making a big deal that USM didn't get $750,000 because they won a game.
