Supposedly it has already cost him roughly $1.9M in forfeited checks, bonuses, and penalties, but what is your opinion on a player missing games while under contract?

Chancellor signed a new contract in 2013 for 4 years and $28M, yet he's holding out now with 2 years remaining on that contract. What's the point of signing a contract if you're going to hold out 2 years into it?

I've always liked Chancellor, despite not being a Seahawks' fan by any stretch, but Chancellor has lost a lot of respect in my book. I'm sure he doesn't give a shite about losing the respect of Slackster in Houston, but it's hypocritical to ask to be paid for your “leadership" while missing regular season games and likely directly costing your team a win on Sunday.

His value to the team has increased beyond what he is getting paid. They really don't have the money to pay him, but he does deserve more. They just had the foresight to see that his value was rising and lock him in then. His agent obviously didn't.

Contracts aren't guaranteed. He's outperformed his contract and he wants a new one. If he underperformed, the team would cut him without thinking twice. I say get your money.

He has three years left on a deal he signed last year. GTFO

Looks like they need him.

I don't blame him for holding out, honestly. Teams cut players and say, "It's not personal. It's only business."

They shouldn't be shocked when a player reciprocates that sentiment.

I'll hold players accountable for their contracts whenever the league is held accountable for their contracts

Dumbest thing you've ever said. Chancellor is one of the best strong safeties in the league

He's not acting in good faith in a 4 year contract he signed last year.

Most teams don't negotiate with players that have more than one year in their deal, let alone three.

He's better than the contract he signed. If he was shitty, the team would cut him and say "it's just a business" and no one would bat an eye. frick the NFL teams, they have all of the power, I'll never shite talk a guy for earning as much money as he can in the short time he can be a player.

If this was MLB or NBA, I'd be with you but non guaranteed contracts are bullshite for players.

The contract was priced the way it was because of the fact that contracts aren't guaranteed.

The problem is that Chancellor has zero leverage and is hurting himself. The team can't pay him. And, he's losing money by not reporting. He's certainly within his rights to request a trade, but the Seahawks are within its rights to deny it.

This isn't a case where it is in the best interest of both parties to re-negotiate the deal. In those situations, it makes sense to hold out and twist the arm of the team. The Seahawks have decided where to spend their money...and it wasn't on Chancellor. Chancellor is only hurting himself and his teammates. Nobody is winning.

Ok? Then the ball is in Seattle's court. They can't make him play. They can only not pay him, cut him, whatever.

Do they need him? Lol obviously. Will they give in? Most likely not. But the NFL created this culture, so I don't know what all the controversy is about.

When NFL teams begin honoring contracts, then I will get mad at a player for not honoring his.

Yeah, because no one ever outperforms their contracts. Give me a break. When the NFL owners are held accountable for their shitty contracts, I'll be interested in holding players accountable. Until then, get paid, Kam.

Yeah, it would be better for his short term financial stability to just play but I'm not going to act all mad at him for holding out.

Every NFL teams cuts countless players every year

If they didn't plan on them being there all year then they shouldn't have signed the contract either by that logic
