The so-called emergence of the Pac 10 as a power conference this season was a myth created by the media in attempting to save face when their annual USC suck fest went south.

No, it was a function of an undefeated bowl season last year plus overrating the wins over USC by other Pac 10 schools.

People here seem to forget that USC has been left out of the BCS game 3 times for teams from the SEC or Big 12 with the same number of losses. Note that the AP in two of those three years also rated USC below other 1 or 2 loss teams. If the bias is so strong, why didn't USC win the AP title in 2008?

horseshite!! at least to the first item. If that were the case then there would have been more than 3 Pac 10 teams in the AP pre-season Top 25.

And the 2nd item just proves my point!!

lol......Just because teams aren't ranked in a preseason bullshite poll doesn't mean everything. Who really knows what teams are going to do. What about the teams who were ranked during the preseason that aren't now? There are teams from more than just the pac ten that fit that mold.

So one year in which USC was overrated proves your point? Okay.

Any team that finishes that high for that many consecutive years will ultimately end up overrated at the end of the run. This is not USC specific. LSU was also overrated this year, even after having a down year in 2008.

Actually, this proves my point. You indicated it was some premeditated conspiracy. If that were the case, you would indeed have more than 3 teams rated in the pre-season poll.

You clearly didn't follow my post. I said it was a combination. One which occurred last year and another that occurred during the year. So, your preseason comment doesn't make sense.

Pretty sure USC is the only PAC-10 team to win the AP title.

Media over looked Auburn when they were undefeated in 2004 a year after the media gave them a share of the title.

Coaches did as well - Auburn was #3 in the coaches poll prior to bowl season.
