What does eveybody think about Sid being a college coach? A lot of these big coaching name coaches were high school coaches a few years ago. I think he is definetly that good. What does eveybody think?

Then general consensus is that he isn't much of a coach but more of a recruiter and motivator and he let's his assistants do the x's and o's

I agree with your consensus. Sid is a GREAT motivator and recruiter. However, the xs and os are because he knows how to put together a GREAT coaching staff. He is a good CEO of a program.

At the high school level, he is a great x's and o's coach. Look at all the great offenses he has had. His offenses have put huge numbers and won a lot of games. How can anyone argue with that.

Coaches on any level are judged, among other ways, by their so-called coaching tree. Sid's is pretty impressive:
David Brewerton HC Livonia
Guy Mistretta HC Dunham
Guy Blanchard HC Port Allen
Neil Weiner HC Zachary
David Dykes HC Walker
Joey Sanchez AD Zachary
Doug Dotson HC Central

There are others but these, with the exception of Dykes all coached at him at RHS and/or played for him at Catholic. Although Mistretta, Dotson, and Weiner are sons of great HS coaches, they were tutored-as asst coaches-under Coach Edwards.

He has had different styles of offenses everywhere he goes. That would have to mean his good assistants are the ones who develop the offense.

For one head coach to have a different kind of offense from RHS to Central? Not likey. He can get good players and get the most out of his players.

That list is pretty funny. Dykes is the head coach at Live Oak by the way. Some of these coaches aren't all that. On the other hand some of them are great coaches! Also Dotson did not coach with him at Redemptorist. Make sure you have your facts straight before you post on line! Sid is the best offensive mind around!
