So what are the players playing for? Will they still get scouts out to their games?

Haha I remember them from back in the Texas League. I was a fan! I was also a fan of the Shreveport Pirates.

Good for them. I just wish Shreveport would build another baseball stadium.

Fair Grounds field is a dump. It has no aesthetic qualities whatsoever. It would be like building a school out of portables and tin sided warehouses.

Will they bring back $1 beer, $1 dog night? What about the ice cream in the mini MLB team helmets?

I was trying to score a old navy and red Captains hat off ebay to No Avail, wish they would've stuck w/ the old logo and color scheme and left Bossier out of it, but glad they're back. Also Shreveport Pirates ....

The city should save its money and build a new baseball stadium some where else with the hopes of bringing affiliated baseball back to the city. Maybe a river-front stadium. Fair Grounds filed is a dump and is in a bad part of town. People don't want to drive out there to see some "American Association" team. See Shreveport SwampDragons/Sports, soon to be Captains.

Its not my opinion, its a fact. Attendance has been absolutely miserable ever since the REAL Captains left. The opportunity to see affiliated baseball and young guys that may be in the big leagues in the future draws people to the stadium. I went to Captains games all the time growing up. Sat in the skybox and took a tour of the dugout and clubhouse but giving the team yet another name won't excite me.

I grew up going to Jackson Mets games at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson. I watched teams like the Shreveport Captains, Tulsa Drillers, Arkansas Travelers, and El Paso Diablos play there. I miss the old Texas League. Those were good times.

I always thought it was ice cream in mini helmets and the fact that live baseball is the best thing ever IMHO

but I do see your point...

Oh, the ice cream in the mini helmets were great, no doubt. We also had fresh roasted peanuts back then, not the pre-bagged and salted stuff you get now.
