Shreveport area golfers...

I saw two guys in a cart ahead of me with no clubs at Huntington. They looked like surveyors with a big map. Is the city going to sell the course and go private?

I hope so. If someone would come in and really sink some money into Huntington, it would easily be the toughest course in town.

Agreed, but just because I hate the 3 Shreveport public golf courses. Everyone that works at the courses are always in a shitty mood and they charge too much for what they put back into the courses.

Is Huntington the longest course in Shreveport? Need better greens for that distance.

Yep, it's the longest and has the water hazards. It was originally private many years ago and went under.
They don't make half the money of Querbes because most older golfers like short courses. I love the challenge of Huntington and the lack of a crowd.
Every time I play at Huntington in early morning something weird happens. One day last year I found a Barack Obama golf ball with a Presidential Seal on it.
One day I was attacked by a raccoon. Another day I had to get deer off the fairway. This week a snarling Pomeranian attacked me on the green.

Quick question, playing a tourney next Saturday at Palmetto. What's the course like in comparison to Calvert Crossing and Pine Hills? Thanks for any help.

Palmetto is bunker city. Lots of sand. It's like playing in the Saraha Desert. No trees. They got knocked down years ago by a tornado. Water hazards aren't bad.
Work on your bunker shots a lot because you will be in them.

Thanks, will do. How deep are they? Tamahka Trails had bunkers 10 feet deep in the fairway!

It's not the depth. It's the number...and they surround the greens. No fairway bunkers.

Do they still have the public course on the corner of Hearne and Milam? Sorry, don't recall the name.

Yep, Lakeside is still there but it doesn't get much traffic. Everyone wants to play Querbes.
There is also a par 3 but I hate playing nothing but par 3s.
The weirdest course is Plain Dealing. It's owned by a farmer and he is his own ground crew. 15 holes and you play the last 3 twice.
I went out there with a member one day when it was supposed to rain. We walked in at noon. We paid the girl behind the desk and she said "Look, you're the only people playing. I'm going home. When you finish drop the cart keys through the mail slot in the door.
