allen is like 6-3, 300?

Over the last two seasons, Allen leads Garrett by 0.5 in the sack department

we're talking about NFL potential. he's obviously more talented than just about anyone he goes up against in college

i find it very hard to believe that he has the frame, explosiveness and fast-twitch to be an edge rusher in the NFL

*ETA: nothing i am posting is taking away his potential NFL production/career

Reggie White? Bruce Smith? Richard Seymour? Michael Strahan? All big guys that hassled quarterbacks. I get what you're saying in regards to Garrett being an explosive edge rusher, but Allen is rare breed in his own right. There are guys like Garrett that come out basically every season. You don't see many 290 pounders that rush the passer like Allen.

In response to the OP, I think Garrett will be the top pick. He'll run a good 40 and show off a body builder physique and would be hard to pass on for anyone drafting 1st

white and strahan were both 6-5 and seymour is 6-6

i almost posted bruce smith, but he was a lot lighter than allen is (and kind of one in a kind getting all those sacks from a 3-4 DE position)

allen is listed at 6-3 and likely will lose an 1.0-1.5 inches when he gets officially measured. his arms are going to have to be SUPER long to make up for that

he's likely an edge-setting 3-4 DE or a 3-tech DT (probably his best position)

and just by projecting potential, if the NFL had a re-draft Aaron Donald (the premier 3-tech DT) would go behind both Khlalil Mack and Von Miller (the premier edge rushers)

Fat arse vs skinny arse

I'd pass on both at #1

One thing for sure, it won't matter who they draft, that person will be gone from the team by year 3.
