Should Stanford have gone for two on its last touchdown?

They scored on the first play of the fourth quarter then kicked the PAT for a 35-29 lead.

I say it was dumb not to.

Ill actually agree with you Rex. I wouldnt go as far as saying it was dumb not to though. Although there was a lot of time left i feel like once you get into the 4th quarter is when you start doing those things.

This would have been a question if they lost. They didn't.

I dont see why the fact they won makes this an invalid subject. It's still worth talking about, IMO

and called TOs on ND's last possession. Betting it all on the D was dumb.
They're lucky that ND TD wasn't overturned

They scored five seconds into the 4th quarter. Taking the sure point was the smart move at that point in the game. Another field goal makes it a two score game. Easy decision.

I think either decision could was fine. It's not like there was less than 10 minutes left; there was more than 14. ND had been inside the 25 four times up to that point of the game and scored zero TDs. It wasn't unreasonable given how the game had been playing out and how much time was left to expect ND to get two more FGs. If that would have happened (and Stanford had gone for two and missed and not scored again), ND would have won 35-34.

The other point: let's pretend the game played out exactly the same way except Stanford went for two and missed. After Kizer's TD run with 30 secs left, ND goes for two and gets it. Now, the score is 37-34 ND and the Stanford FG at the end only sends the game into OT.
