So at what point do you draw the line?

there is no "line"

you look at the teams. enter the data presented by the teams, and spit out 1-4. end of story.

now we can disagree/argue about the methodology used to rank teams, but that's another argument

What if a van full of team players crashes, and they lose their starting RB, WRs, QB, and MLB to injury.

At what point is a team penalized for losing the players that are responsible for their wins?

when it leads to losses on the field for the team

I agree. This issue came up last year but I don't remember if it was college basketball or football. Makes no sense.

i asked if florida state should be snubbed by the BCS if Jameis Winston were to be suspended. they couldn't have been one of the top two without him, (right?)

this wouldnt even be a discussion if the commitee hadnt come out earlier in the year and said they would give Florida state a pass if they had lost during Winstons suspension

i keep seeing people argue that a factor in keeping OSU out is the fact that they're on their 3rd string QB, even if they win saturday

When the committee refers to taking injuries into consideration I think they have to look at it both ways. When Oregon lost to Arizona I think they had two starting linemen out with injuries, so Oregon got the benefit of the doubt. I also think OSU's 2nd string qb made his first start in the loss to Va Tech.

If OSU wins this weekend they will not be penalized by the committee even though their team might not be as good with the 3rd string qb, but if the lose they will not be rewarded by the committee.
