I'm gonna call this hypocritical, and here's why:
This is a mural that was in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, over the summer. If "we should always be judged by our achievements, not by our gender," then why even include Williams' gender on the mural in the first place, even if it's to be scratched out? If it said "GREATEST ATHLETE EVER," with no "female" to be scratched out, people might disagree, but there would be no gender debate to bitch about....
...which is what they want. The battle of the sexes sells, so whoever's doing the selling will continue to sell it because the people who yap about these things, ironically, are the most obsessed when it comes to gender themes.
Here's another example:
Well, no one with half a sense of humor would say that Amy, Tina, and Sarah aren't funny, so why even bring the "women aren't funny" shite up?
Because "women aren't funny" riles unfunny bitches up and makes them want to read magazine articles about how smart and funny that men don't realize women are.
