Since we lost our QB, i am thinking 6-4. I hope I am wrong, but losing Bennett is a big loss obviously.

Fire away.

Isom could thrive there. Very interested in how he does.

Isom was a beast at Destrehan....of course, Jordan Jefferson was also pretty good in HS.

Replacing Bennett is a big part of the puzzle, for sure. You've got three interesting candidates to be the starter.

Landor has the most experience, played a good bit last year in some option packages when Bennett was limping to the finish line. Nothing to write home about arm-wise.

Isom has a big reputation from Destrehan and could instantly put himself in the lead for the starting job.

Cutbirth is 6'5 and can throw the ball a clear quarter mile. He showed off the arm and some surprising athleticism in the spring game.

Still feel like Landor has the inside track.

Beyond QB, you're replacing ALL of your LBs including some 2nd stringers, plus your best defensive lineman. The defense was way ahead of the offense at the spring game and Blake Williams is already getting a lot of positive buzz as the new DC, but I can't help but wonder if all the losses up front will come back to bite them.

Only 5 home games this year, but they avoid a regular season match with SHSU yet again.

Hopefully not, considering there's 11 games scheduled. 8-3/7-4 is a reasonable expectation.

Southland is always wide open. Interested to see if SFA can make some noise in Conque's second year. Have some pieces on offense but might hurt losing Gus Johnson.

Hopefully it will be this year. Sam Houston returns 21 starters.

21!!!

I'd be surprised to see them drop more than one game in conference, if that many.

I was not impressed with SELU last season, even with Bennett. I expected the Lions to be far more competitive against Tulane. I'll guess 6-5.

Two words- offensive line.
SLU had a really good team last year but the main weakness was O line. Every loss they had could be contributed to that.

Well when your coach is determined to run against an 11 man front you will get your arse kicked. Including by Tulane.

I don't know how much of this was the new OC last year and how much of it was Bennett playing hurt most of the season, but there were some times where the offense got REAL conservative. It cost them dearly against Tulane, SEMO and SHSU.

None of which will be SLUs best DB this year. Harlan Miller is the name to look for.

Defense will be loaded and should be better than last year, which is saying something. Offense may take some time to rally around a QB but there is a ton of talent at running back and wide receiver plus the O line should be improved with some quality FBS transfers. If Landor plays up to his capability this could be Roberts best SLU team to date.
