SEC 4-6 vs. BCS conferences

Alabama (SEC 1)
W Clemson (ACC 8)
No surprise, especially after we learned how good each team is. Nothing to conclude as far as the SEC's value.
Florida (SEC 2)
W Miami (ACC 4)
? Florida State (ACC 2)
Florida drummed Miami, which shows the SEC as either really good or just more top-heavy than the ACC (probably both). The UF/FSU game will be interesting.
Georgia (SEC 3)
W Arizona State (Pac-10 7)
? Georgia Tech (ACC 1)
Nothing to gain from this yet, but if Georgia beats the ACC's best team....
Mississippi (SEC 4)
L Wake Forest (ACC 5)
Straight-up matchup, and the Deacons won.
Vanderbilt (SEC 5)
L Duke (ACC 12)
? Wake Forest (ACC 5)
Ouch.
South Carolina (SEC 6)
? Clemson (ACC 8)
The ACC is middle-heavy, and both teams are pretty even here.
Louisiana State (SEC 7)
Thank God we didn't schedule Texas Tech.
Kentucky (SEC 8)
W Louisville (BE 8)
Nothing to gain here; a lower-mediocre SEC team beats the Big East's worst team.
Auburn (SEC 9)
L West Virginia (BE 2)
The Best of the Big East beats one of the SEC's worst. Tells us nothing.
Tennessee (SEC 10)
L UCLA (Pac-10 8)
Pretty evenly-matched pair, and the Bruins won in overtime.
Mississippi State (SEC 11)
L Georgia Tech (ACC 1)
Nothing to learn from this one.
Arkansas (SEC 12)
L Texas (BXII 1)
Or this one.
Georgia and Florida will probably beat Georgia Tech and Florida State, respectively. I expect that either Vanderbilt or South Carolina will beat Wake Forest or Clemson, respectively.
That will put the SEC at 7-7 vs. BCS conferences with probably 7 bowl matchups vs. BCS teams.

Should probably wait until those games happen. I don't see Vandy beating Wake at all, and CLemson is favored over South Carolina albeit by only a point. IMO the SEC needs to go at least 3-1 to have any argument of being better than the ACC, Big-10 or PAC-10. 2-2 and there is no argument, and 1-3 would be very, very telling. I would not be overly surprised to See Georgia Tech beat Georgia.

Also, if the SEC ends the season 6-8 vs. BCS conferences and then goes 5-2 vs. BCS conferences in bowl games, what does that say?
IMHO bowl games say more than regular season games in this case because in bowl games it is more likely that the teams are roughly evenly-matched.

Some other observations. Miami fared better against Florida than most of the SEC has. CUM did add that late FG to run it up a little bit. Most other coaches would have shown a little more class and just ran it up the gut, but that is neither here nor there.
If we throw out all of the mismatches, the SEC is 1-3, with Florida having that single win. Really does not bode that well for the SEC.

After bowl season then this argument could be revisted. You cannot claim some 5-2 bowl record before it happens though. In that case though you should root for Oregon so Georgia does not have to face Ohio St.

as bad as the SEC is this year, it's still not nearly as bad as the PAC-10. if you're going to post here you should try to bring at least a small amount of objectivity

Let's look at the PAC-10 vs BCS conferences
Big-10 #1 over PAC-10 #1
PAC-10 #2 over Big-10 #2
PAC-10 #4 over Big-10 #3
PAC-10 #8 over SEC #10
That is 3-1 in the even matchups
In the mismatches you have the PAC-10 #1 over the ACC #9, you have the Big-12 #1 over the PAC-10 #10, the Big-12 #4 over the PAC-10 #9, The PAC-10 #3 over the Big-10 #9. SEC #3 over the PAC-10 #7 None of those matchups mean much.
Overall that is 5-4, but more importantly 3-1 in the even matchups.
So in the even matchups the SEC is 1-3 and that one win may not end up being an even matchup at the end of the season, while the PAC-10 is 3-1.
Big-10 #1 over PAC-10 #1
PAC-10 #2 over Big-10 #2
PAC-10 #4 over Big-10 #3
PAC-10 #8 over SEC #10
That is 3-1 in the even matchups
In the mismatches you have the PAC-10 #1 over the ACC #9, you have the Big-12 #1 over the PAC-10 #10, the Big-12 #4 over the PAC-10 #9, The PAC-10 #3 over the Big-10 #9. SEC #3 over the PAC-10 #7 None of those matchups mean much.

lolz at Oregon State
Also, GT probably isn't the ACC #1 (sadly)

Not much seperates the ACC, that is the parity league.

UF VS USC
BAMA VS OSU
UGA vs Oregon
USC vs Cali
Ole Miss vs Arizona
Kentucky vs Stanford
Auburn vs UCLA
MSU vs ASU
Tenn vs WSU
Ark vs Washington
I see the SEC going at least 7-3 in these match ups leaving out the #5 and 6 SEC teams.

blah blah blah...engineers create things that should work "on paper"...until we have more (1A) out-of-conference games and a playoff system, these conversations will always be a place for the networks to go, which is why it will never happen.

We still could finish 1 as long as UVA takes care of business.
Now will pollsters put GT ahead of UGA if we beat them on Saturday? Both teams will have the same number of losses (granted UGA has much better losses UF, Bama > UVA, UNC, VT) but we would have the head to head
and personally I think the ACC is one of the most fun leagues to watch this season

Georgia tech should certainly be ranked higher than Georgia if they win head to head. Though the polls have shown a tremendous pro-SEC bias throughout the season.

I want to see a Georgia Ohio St. Cap One matchup myself. On paper that should be the top or one of the top non-bcs matchups.
