I'm sure some of Bagwell's 285 ft bombs to the Choo Choo train are commemorated.

You're my favorite poster so it hurt a little to see my hero not come through.

The Jays and Cubs deserve each other. Win one playoff series and lose your fricking minds. That's when you know you have a loser fanbase.

Let's realistically look at that same thought, though. Yes, it has been a miserable existence for the Cubs for a very long time. For those people that aren't followers of this Cubs regime, this could arguably be the best collection of talent for the Cubs in a long time. It's a different thought process from the players on the field to the brains in the offices to the scouts on the road.

But that's okay...keep lumping every Cubs fan in with the meatheads that exiled Steve Bartman. Keep thinking this is that same franchise.

That wasn't what I was saying at all. In fact, I would place a large bet that the Cubs will win a WS in the next 10 years with all of that young talent and Maddon.

That doesn't change the fact that the fanbase is programmed to lose. No one else in sports behaves like Cubs fans. That's just the way it is. Once you win some maybe that will change.

Did you ever stop to think that because it's been so long that maybe that's why the level of excitement is what it is at each step as we get closer? It's not really a difficult concept to grasp.

(But, as an aside, we're just there for the party, so the excitement over these wins and this season is utterly inexplicable.)

It was surprising to me too until I stopped and thought about it. Before this year, they've only won one postseason series since Wrigley opened, and it was a road win in Atlanta

I did think about that and then I remembered that most of the other teams in the playoffs right now either haven't ever won a WS or it's been a long arse time. Most of those franchises aren't memorializing a baseball from Game 4 of the first round. If the Cubs have a walkoff homerun to win the pennant, then memorialize everything. It's just kinda pathetic to do it that early in the playoffs. If the Cubs get swept in the next round that plexiglass baseball is gonna look pretty stupid.

It's only up there until the end of their run anyway.

I think it's awesome, but I'm a cubs fan.
