They should've waited to see what happens with Vegas.

Yikes, that is a kick in the nuts for Spanos. Was hoping they would get a new stadium there.

1 of those 2 teams will fail. maybe both

No blackout rule. Neither will fail unless the rest of the NFL fails at the same time.

the Rams and Raiders both left LA at the same time some 20 years ago for a reason

And that reason doesn't exist anymore.

The rams were in the city for over 50 years and left because the ownership basically turned it's back on the city.
I'm sure you know this, but there's more to it than that. The blackout rule meant that the Rams could sell 90,000 tickets and still be blacked out in the second largest market in America. That and shifting suburban demographics (which applied to a lot of teams, hence stadiums being in Irving, East Rutherford, Landover, Pontiac, etc) made a move to Anaheim fitting for the Rams. Anaheim Stadium was crap for football, and when it came time to lobby for a new stadium, greater Los Angeles collectively balked.

Now there's a new stadium on the agenda and no blackout rule. The exact two items keeping both teams from staying in Los Angeles 20 years ago are now gone, and lo and behold, we're going to have two teams there. They'll do fine until it's time for a new stadium.

By the time Kroenke is finished going in on the Spanos brain trust, they may have wished they stayed in San Diego and their old stadium.
