Three men have told investigators that Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State defensive coordinator recently convicted of 45 counts of child sex abuse, molested them in the 1970s and 1980s, The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, Pa., has reported, citing sources close to the case.

None of Sandusky's 10 victims had predated the 1990s, and in his report released Thursday, former FBI director Louis Freeh said his review for Penn State's board of trustees had not found evidence predating the '90s.

One of the three men says he was abused in the early 1970s, the report says. Sandusky's defense had argued in his trial that a person doesn't become a pedophile in his or her 50s. Sandusky turned 68 in January.

The police are aware of the three new accusers, according to the report.

The plot thickens. Honestly, the fact that he allegedly was molesting kids before 1998 should not surprise anyone.

I'm sure over time dozens of other people will come forward -- and unfortunately, many of them will be telling the truth.

Why have we not just put a bullet in his head and moved on?

So they were trying to argue that he had been a pedophile way longer than originally suspected?

they were saying he couldn't do it b/c IF he was a pedo, he'd have had reports of this from a time frame like the 70s

Absolutely. IMO, it probably was something of an "open secret" around the program and the town. This is not surprising at all, and I doubt it's the last "other shoe" to drop.

ive always been skeptical of the "14 years" label. i would bet joepa knew alot longer than just 1998. that was probably his final straw and why he "resigned." that was probably strike 27. thats why they couldnt take it to the cops, b/c they would have to admit they knew significantly longer than even 1998.

like sandusky's defense said, he didnt just become a pedophile overnight...

why didnt these victims come forward pre-sandusky trial when they all were? why wait til now?

Well now they won't have to testify at a trial. That's one possible explanation

obviously right IMO

He set up the children's charity in 1977. It is hard to believe that he didn't have victims dating back to at least the 70s. It is also hard to believe that people who were very close to him (including Paterno and Sandusky's wife) didn't see things dating back to that era as well.

I think we all knew this was coming. Cant even say his name, but that vile evil animal I knew would leave a trail way before the initial 1998 report.

this whole thing reminds me of that short story the lottery where they sacrifice a kid per year to keep a good harvest. penn state sacrificied a lot of kids tho to keep a good reputation.

It's a cheaper though to just do away with him. Hell get the rope out..we can use it on a couple people and save money.

I'd imagine people who were molested in the 1970s and 80s said nothing because reliving what happened was too much. Something like - "14 people have already testified. No one needs to hear what happened to me 35 years ago."

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah "good" reputation. Was all smoke and mirrors.
