By preaching about it on TV he was. Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise.

You must be a blast at parties

His sports opinions have often led me to believe that he was drunk on TV. His addiction has done significant damage to the quality if sports analysis on my tv over the past several years. Glad to see him doing something to fix this problem.

Raising awareness and letting those who are out there struggling know that they're not alone is not preaching, you dipshit.

as someone who has suffered through addiction, i like hearing stuff like this. there are millions of people in this country who either suffer from it or have been affected by a loved ones struggles.
while it may not appeal to you or mean anything to you, it could be helping other people no matter Smith's intentions

I know a lot of alcoholics that don't have a problem with their addiction.
the terms alcoholic and addiction don't have to mean problem

i have never seen an active alcoholic or addict have positive results by drinking and drugging

I seriously doubt an espn sports analyst talking for a few minutes is going to make an addict see the error of their ways and turn it all around.

Did he just cut in with that information or what set it up?
Must be contract renewal time "look boss, people like me".
People come out everyday with this admission, b/c he's on tv it's somehow more dramatic or special? GTFO

Did his alcoholism make him a terrible CFB analyst? Because I really could not give less of a shite about his personal life. In front of the camera, he's fricking terrible.

There is a better forum for it than a sports show. It sounded self serving to gain sympathy from the audience and his critics.
Posted on 11/1/13 at 10:53 am to redfieldk717
amen. there are also many many more thousands inlcuding lots on this board that are in denial about their own alcoholism. they are ticking time bombs
Posted on 11/1/13 at 10:53 am to AngryBeavers
sure there is, but it was relevant to the topic. i dont doubt it was set up that way but what's the harm in it?

doesn't make them alcoholic
the definition of alcoholism is when your drinking makes your life unmanageable, you try to limit your intake but cannot or if given an honest attempt to stop but cannot. There is a lot more to it than just someone who drinks every day, its all about life manageability imo.
