Let's see what happens in the NBA this season. They already have this rule. It will be interesting what the NBA's response will be if a bunch of high profile players refus to stand. I think that would be a good barometer for the NFL to use.

In the NBA, I think it would actually be even easier for the players. If Lebron and maybe a handful of other high profile guys decided they didn’t want to stand, I suspect that the league would figure out a compromise really quick.

Players in the NBA are treated incredibly generously concerning max contracts and guaranteed money compared to the NFL and there's fewer NBA players than NFL players so easier to gain more endorsements and generate a larger platform. The NBA players will submit to the league's rules and regulations without much or any objection plus the NBA portrays itself as progressive concerning social issues.

I would imagine successfully, just like the majority of NFL players

Fire the lying SOB (credit to GEOTUS Trump for the term SOB).

I'd bet the farm, literally, that he would fold and stand plenty enough to keep his NFL job before he would forfeit $10 million

There are plenty of ditches to be dug and trash to be hauled out! If he can't make a better decision than throwing away millions of dollars that's about his only options left. Don't put him driving the truck though the hydrolics are too complicated he needs to be at the rear end.

Yeah give up millions and millions of dollars because he doesn't want to stand for the national anthem. Is this mother fricker seriously that retarded?

Some people have principles. If he's managed his money wisely, he doesn't need an NFL income anymore

I love the irony in this.

You wouldn't bet any meaningful amount of money that would put you in a bind over this, but you have no problem calling him a liar.

All the tax dollars wasted on the war on drugs is "promoting" america? I doubt the prison industry built around the w.o.d. is promoting america either...

I don't agree with the war on drugs but I'm not gonna go kneel for the national anthem over it cause I know that no country is perfect but the one we live in is as close as a nation has ever been to being perfect.

I think it’s silly because it creates acrimony between the players and the league where there wasn’t any before, and it’s unnecessary.
The acrimony started when the players actions started to potentially harm the owners bottom line.....
