Make em sign waivers that say no one is liable for their injuries, including long term head injuries, besides themselves and let them tee off on each other again.

I just don't get it They willingly participate in it.

You don't get the part about protecting what makes your brand valuable?

Well you solved it. Someone tell the lawyers to make them sign waivers

That's a huge difference and the timing of penalties matters too

I know I didn't solve it. I'm just wondering why that CAN'T solve it.

I know they've thought of that. But why isn't that enough? Genuine question.

I don't. Explain.

What makes their brand valuable about limiting the big hits? I feel like that would attract more viewers.

Are you kidding?

5 penalties is ~55% of the total penalties called. That is a huge difference

Maybe reread the post he is referring to.

Read the post, you'd imagine the disparity was something like 20 to 3.

Keeping players healthy.

Take away all the QB protection rules, how great would the NFL be when more and more and more QBs keep getting injured and we're watching Luke McCown every weekend?

There wasn't 1 presnap penalty in the Saints-Cowboys game, yet there were still 14 penalties

The entire nfl season has been insane with the amount of calls

Ok, fine protect the QBs.

Big hits on WR's and special teams and defensive players being blocked can stay.

Its not like there wasn't already a double standard before the targeting and defenseless player rules came out recently.

No.

14 penalties is below average for Week 4. Dude made it sound like there were 25 penalties called.

There were 14 penalties with zero false starts and zero offsides

Another thing, the NFL is doing what they can to protect their brand not right now or 5 years from now, but 20/30/50 years from now.

There's lots of reports about the huge decline in the number of young kids playing football. I think it's a safe assumption to say that decline is due to all the publicized stuff about concussions blah blah blah.

If you don't make the game safer, those numbers continue to decline, and your product could be very inferior 30 years from now.

Then there's 1 other thing, they put all these rules in place, and the game is more popular now than ever, so they can basically have their cake and eat it too.

for a second I thought it was the same game Shannon sharpe housed a 95+ yard TD from dilfer but I remembered the ravens were wearing all white jerseys...regardless, I remembered the play so I googled it...chris mcallister won't be remembered but he was top caliber player for a number of years. great cb

Let everyone else tee off on each other

Ok. Still below average for the week and only a 5 penalty difference between this immaculately called game and this shittily called game.

8 enforced penalties in the Seattle game and 3 were presnap false starts or offsides

I don't think anyone has issues with false start penalties being called

I'm sorry, but that is an enormous statistical difference.
