The Madden Curse isn't even a real thing.

Why are we supposed to be impressed by a wrong prediction?

I'll have to look, but I feel confident saying that every year the pats have won the super bowl they haven't gone undefeated.

No it isn't.

Half of the cover athletes on Madden didn't deserve to be there or were there too highlight a new gaming mechanic.

For the past decade people have been trying to connect dots in order to keep the Madden Curse alive, kind of like what you're doing now.

I looked back a little to see if I could quickly find an example if it not being.

Madden 13 (came out in 2012) had Calvin Johnson. That year he broke Jerry Rice's single season receiving mark. That's my kind of curse.

Madden 15 (came out in 2014) featured Richard Sherman. That year he signed a contract extension worth over 57 mil, started and played in every game, had the second highest number of interceptions in his career, and his team went to the Superbowl and almost won.

My kind of curse.

I just looked into it, too. Apparently 17 of the 20 cover athletes have been injured the following season.

Plenty of players over the years get the cover after a career year or a great year. It's really not THAT surprising that they don't duplicate that previous season's results.

Yeah, I can see why people might think that but injuries are a part of sports, football in particular. But the 3 that had no injuries, by definition would disprove a curse, would it not?

I don't think anyone actually believes in the curse. It's just an interesting coincidence.

Agreed, and though I scooff at people for that type of thinking, I really don't want Brees on the cover again

Me either.

"It's obviously horseshite. Curses aren't real. Just don't put my guy on there. It's not worth the risk."
