You've gotta admit, recent FLA grads have had a rough go of it for the most part

My grandpa had $600,000 when he retired at 55. He's 75 now and has been living off of interest for a long time. He's doubled his money. He has well over a million dollars now. And he lives very comfortably.
Now, he also gets social security, and somebody like Elam if he got hurt tomorrow would have a long ways to go before getting social security.
But still, $2 million is a lot of money to grow.

That's awesome. From the bottom level is the best way to learn about the business you want to be in.

Not trying to hijack , but I am obssessed about this subject(Early retirement) & would like to do the same at 55.
If you know was his home/ mortgage paid off?
Did he have to take a part time job/hustle since SS doesn't kick in until at least 62?
I have no problem with Elam taking a temporary job to learn the business from ground up if that's his explanation.
Ron Artest applied for Circuit City early in his Bulls days & got hammered, but his reasoning was to get the employee discounts on electronics.

I think it's odd that he has ambitions of being a business owner and has even re enrolled at FL. But the articles say he is majoring in Anthropology. Seems he would get a bus mgt degree. Either way, he seems like a solid dude

Good for him. John Elway took a similar path early in his career and sold cars to learn the business.

, but it'd be something like working at a beer store or something like that where I could just talk about what I like all day and get paid for it.

Good for him. Wasn't he the player who forgo-ed hiring an agent and negotiated his own rookie contract?

after taxes and shite, that's less than $2 million. sure, that's just one season. but most players are lucky to play into their 30s, so even if he makes around $15 mil in his career, he has to live the rest of his life off that. good on him for thinking about the rest of his life.
Yeah, the $9 an hour for a few months work at finish line should really push his net worth to another level.
