He was pretty bad for Texas and he didn't even have a spot in Texas' pen anymore. He was down in AAA so all he was essentially doing was taking up a roster spot.

But yeah, I wonder if they just paypal'ed the club or sent 100 pennies.

The only MLB transaction to top this has to be the '62 Mets trading Harry Chiti for himself, as a player to be named later.

This is actually fairly common and happens a few times per season for the same reason.

Actually a pretty sad story since the heckling he got afterwards made him quit baseball and eventually that led to him ODing.

He's probably happy if he wants to work later. Texas didn't seem to suit him very well.

He pitched seven innings out of the Texas ’pen, allowing four runs on six hits and six walks with five strikeouts.

Frieri is an extreme fly-ball pitcher (career 26.4 percent ground-ball rate), though if he reaches the Majors, concerns surrounding that trait could be somewhat mitigated by the spacious dimensions of Seattle’s Safeco Field and an excellent Mariners outfield defense.
